I just spoke to Apple support and I’m being told they have to be bought on the same order. Wtf!! I ordered the iPad from Costco (cheaper) and once I received it I ordered the keyboard the next day. They are telling I have to return everything and buy everything on the same order. Sounds dumb. AppleCare should extend to my keyboard but they say it won’t.

I’m guessing you may have spoken with regular Support. I’d ask to speak with someone on the Applecare Agreement Team because they’re the experts. There’s nothing in the latest iPad Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplus/us/) stating they have to be purchased at the same time or on the same order.

The requirement is that they are purchased to be used with the iPad. So, for example, if you bought an Apple Bluetooth keyboard that could be used for multiple devices, and it needed service, you couldn’t claim it different times under different AC+ policies. That’s a bit of a stretch for an example, but you get the idea.

You’re absolutely correct. I called back and spoke to an Apple care specialist. They said as long as you added the AppleCare+ to your iPad within 60 days, your magic keyboard and Apple Pencil would also be covered and they don’t need to be purchased all at the same time. The 1st time I called, the girl on the phone told me I would have to buy AppleCare for the keyboard which isn’t even possible.
