AppleCare+ on preorders

Just a heads up for those who preordered and wanting to get AppleCare+

Just came back from the Apple store and was told I'm 3 days past my window on my iphone 5 that I preordered through Apple.com and couldn't purchase AppleCare+ anymore.


Called Apple, added no problem, they went by the day I received it which was the 21st.

I assume you laughed in their face and told them it hasn't been out thirty days as you should have?
 
I preordered on the night of availability. Their system wouldn't let them add in my serial number. I'm not sure if they have the ability to override in store. My only recourse will be to call Apple customer service.
 
I added AppleCare+ even when I was out of the 30 days. I bought it yesterday, at that time I was out by 3 days. Called up Apple, had someone connect me to a senior advisor and he set it all up for me.
 
I don't understand how you can be past your 30-day window when the phone hasn't even been out for 30 days...

I would guess you should at least have the rest of the weekend to buy it.

That is not the way it works. The 30 day count down starts the day the iPhone ships.
 
I preordered the phone as well. I saw this post and decided to try to add it to my phone. So I called up apple and it was added with no problems.

Good to hear that people are still able to do it though. I guess I should tell my mom and sister about it.

Does Apple still do out-of-warranty or accidental damage replacements for $200? I seem to remember reading that a couple years ago...

Yeah, it will cost $229 for that.
 
The stores seem to use the order date and not the ship date. I am surprised this has not been corrected as its an ongoing complaint.

I have never seen anything that indicated they go by the delivery date. For that you have to call and argue with them.

so you're telling me, if I am one day over the 30 day grace period to add AppleCare+, I am SOL?

I was over the grace period and I got AppleCare+ added to my iPhone 5. It shipped on the 16th last month and I got AppleCare+ on the 18th of this month.
 
I got mine in an AT&T store on launch day, so I take it I have until tomorrow to add AppleCare+
