Apple today announced that AppleCare One will be available in Australia, France, Germany, and the U.K. starting Tuesday, August 4.

Apple-AppleCare-One-Feature.jpg

Introduced in the U.S. last year, AppleCare One covers up to three devices as part of a single monthly subscription, and the total cost can be lower than multiple AppleCare+ plans. In the U.K., for example, Apple says customers can save up to £11.48 per month compared to paying for three separate AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss plans.

AppleCare One includes all AppleCare+ benefits, including unlimited repairs for accidental damage subject to a fee per incident, 24/7 priority tech support, and theft and loss protection for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Depending on the country, customers can sign up for AppleCare One on Apple.com or at an Apple Store. Those who already have an AppleCare+ plan can also sign up directly in the Settings app on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Existing devices that are up to four years old can be added to an AppleCare One plan, provided they are in good condition. A diagnostic check may be required. Additional devices beyond the three included can be added to the plan for an additional cost per month, per device, with most of the various fees outlined below.

Few I thought this was the post about the price going up....

Do your math peoples this is not always cheaper but sure saves a few bucks for some devices.

It’s better for me, for example, because I only have to worry about one payment per month. Keeping track of all the little payments that were nickel-and-diming me was irritating.

Trying to imagine how this works if one has only an iPhone and an Apple Watch.

In any case, more subscriptions, paying for something regardless of use, and there is a deductible which rather defeats the purpose of insurance in the first place.

To each their own, I guess that's what Apple is betting on.... Not sure what kind of time you are loosing I just look at my statement each month takes 1 min.

I have a watch MBP and iPhone I save $1.62 a month, if I add any of my other devices AirPods, HomePods, HomePod mini, Apple TV, Mac mini I would be grossly over paying at 5.99 a month per device

Monthly prices for devices listed below without Apple Care One. I have a hard time justifying paying 3 to 6 times more per month.

Home Pod - 1.66 Mo
AirPods - 1.49 Mo
MacMini M4 - 2.91 Mo
Apple TV - 0.99 Mo
HomePod mini - 0.99 Mo

The DMA says that a Gatekeeper can release a Feature/Service to 2 or fewer member states and will avoid additional regulation as a result. No surprise that this is offered in France and Germany, which would have been the lion’s share of people signing up for it anyway. Folks in other EU regions should NOT expect that they’re next!

Even ONE more region and the regulators could say that Apple has monopoly control over AppleCare One and fine it more than the revenues from those other regions would be worth.

Imagine it’s £16.99 wether you have 2 devices instead of 3

Wondering how this works with paid up front coverage and financing?

My iPhone, Apple Watch & AirPods are all paid for but are on Barclays Partner Finance agreements so assume that doesn't change. Beats Pill & PowerBeats Pro are already paid up front. Only thing I pay month for is my iPad Pro.

I do have a couple of Apple TVs which I'm pretty sure are less than 4 years old. One of which has a dodgy remote so might be worth looking into.

Too late for my AirPods Max that turned 4 years old in April this year but I could add my AirPods Pro 2 if I wanted.

It depends when you bought them, because the small print says that headphones can only be added if they're up to one year old rather than 4 years like all of the other devices.

Not bothered as I’m planning on retiring them and getting the pros 3 in a few weeks anyway.

It’s about bloody time. If AppleCare was available already here, I have no idea why it took this long to bring this service over to the UK.
Lawyers take forever reviewing all the regulations related to insurance-like products. Each country has its rules. EU is particularly a regulatory purgatory (and the UK was previously part of the EU)

Switching my iPhone from the individual 14,99€ AC+ Theft & Loss plan to AC One was easy, and I was quickly able to add my MacBook Pro (M1 Max) that was on an individual AC+ plan with yearly renewal (for 109,99€ iirc). It said something about refunding partial cost, haven't got a confirmation mail on that yet though. So essentially adding AC+ to the MacBook is now just 72,-€/year instead of the 109,99€.

I was also able to add my Apple Watch Series 8 as the third included device, even though that had no previous coverage. Would've loved to add my iPad Pro M2 instead as it feels like the battery is rapidly degrading, but since I didn't buy that in Germany it states I can't add it because of that.

I think it's a pretty good deal as long as you have 3 more expensive Apple devices, with the obvious caveat that you're just paying money for nothing as long as everything works and nothing gets stolen.

Adding cheaper devices and accessories doesn't really make sense though. I could add my Apple TV (latest model with A15) for 5,99€ per month, but getting an individual plan is just 9,99€ per year. Even stuff like AirPods Pro is just 19,99€ per year, not sure how adding these makes any sense. Even the Mac mini has a cheaper individual plan available. I don't really care about coverage on all these smaller devices anyway, but Apple should probably offer accessory coverage for 0,99€ per month on AC One, and desktop Mac coverage for like 2,99€.

Swapping my 17 PM from the standalone theft and loss plan to AppleCare One was painless; I moved my Ultra 3 onto it and even added my MacBook M5 Air to the plan for free as the third one, as it wasn’t covered anyway as I didn’t really need it covered. The old two plans were automatically cancelled, and I’m expecting a partial refund on those two.

As a bonus, my Ultra 3 is now covered by AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, which never was an option before; I was only limited to basic AppleCare+

£4.99 extra a month for things like the AirPods Pro 3 is a massive rip-off; no way are they worth £59.98 a year – £1.99 extra a month maybe.

It’s just nice having everything under one plan instead of being billed multiple times with multiple subscriptions at different times throughout the month. Seems even upgrading devices is easy, and I can say get a new iPhone and just remove an old device and put the new one in its place. So much less hassle.

I've added both my 16 Pro Max and my Apple Watch Series 10 and received gift card refunds for the remaining couple of months of AppleCare+ after an hour or two. I haven't been able to add my 14" MacBook Pro M1 because it says "device purchased outside eligible region". I bought it from the Apple UK website so am not sure what's going on there.

I called up and they're stumped as well, said they've opened a case and to try again in 72 hours otherwise call back and they'll add it manually. Hopefully it can get sorted before the MBP's 4th anniversary in a couple of weeks 😅

They’ve got rid of the normal apple care plus from my phone. Was going to get the one without theft and loss for £5.99 but it’s gone and only shows theft and loss and apple care one.
