Same thing, every year. Shall I get AppleCare Plus for my new iPhone or not? Usually do get it but have never used it. Same thing re screen protector. Usually do get one and then take it off. Just a quick poll to see what others think.
It depends on whether you like to use the phone “everywhere” or not, or whether you’re ultra careful with it.
I like to film trips and use the phone caseless and I think it’s worth it for the peace of mind (+theft/loss insurance) alone. Many who prefer to save money and get peace of mind from using their device carefully will say it’s not.
I always get both apple care and a screen protector. I guess it just makes me feel less scared of walking around with this expensive of a phone. This year however I only did apple care. I was too impatient to wait any longer to start playing with the pro max. Plus I had horrible luck with screen protectors on my xs max last year. Didn’t matter if they came from apple bestbuy or amazon they would break within a few days of putting them on. Just became a inconvenience to get them replaced. If I break my screen this time apple care will cover it and I may reconsider
I guess one think to consider is that if you upgrade every year you get a refund for your AC+. I've just got £106 back for last years cover. So now thinking it might be worth it....
I have never done Apple Care on any phone or watch I own. I have never destroyed a phone or watch. I did have a cracked screen on a 5 that I replaced and a smashed screen on a 5S, but the cost of those together did not add up to the cost of Applecare over 10+ years. It just isn't worth it for me. Now that the phones are more durable, it is even less worth it. I slap them in a case, and put a glass screen protector on, and I am good to go.
