    Hey everyone,

I need to buy Applecare for my Macbook, but I never realized how close it was until the end of my one year warranty. I'm not sure if the university has any in stock (so i could get my discount), and they might even be the only place near me that has applecare. So my question is this: When exactly does the one year warranty expire? Is it when I first ordered the macbook (order placed on September 10), when it shipped (on the 20th), or when I received it (very beginning of October). Also, when does the applecare become valid? if I order it today, and don't get it for a week or so, is my warranty negated? Or does the warranty extend as soon as I have purchased Applecare... I need to know for sure, as my battery has failed and i'd like it to be covered by the warranty...

    thanks,
    Andrew

The warranty starts from date of shipping, not order or receiving. They are a bit flexible with warranty so you should always contact them even thought warranty is out, 2-4 weeks.

When it comes to purchasing Apple Care after warranty is out, I dont know how flexible they are about that but my recommendation is that you contact After Sales and they should be able to help you getting your Apple Care in time, as they can probably enroll your computer as soon as they received the payment.

To call After Sales, go to your country online apple store and there should be a Apple Sales number, call it and choose the right button for After Sales.

    Ok, thanks everyone.

I ended up being able to buy it from my University computer store. I registered it, etc. it said i had registered it properly, and said everything would be checked and i would "get my certificate in a few weeks." Does that mean the warranty kicks in today, or when I get the certificate? Also, is there any way I can double check to make sure it's been properly registered? All I got was one page that basically said "you have completed it"...

    thanks.
