I have an appointment to take my Macbook Pro into the Apple Store tomorrow to see a mac genius. The keyboard is having some hardware issues that I want looked at. I have AppleCare on my MBP - will it cost anything to see a mac technician? Also, I have a plastic case cover to protect the laptop- does this void my warranty if I bring it in with the case on?

No, AppleCare covers everything; you won't need to pay a dime.

And no, the cover shouldn't affect the warranty, although, you may have to reassure them that the case isn't causing the keyboard problems.

provided that this issue is not caused by a software problem or physical damage then it wont cost you anything, they should have no issue a case or KB cover on the unit
