AppleCare started and first IUP payment processed before we get our phones?

Is this normal? This year my phone is being shipped. Last year I picked it up at the store and everything started at pickup.
 
Not sure about 1UP. The AppleCare+ email says:

"Your Coverage End Date will automatically adjust to two years from the date you first activate your iPhone."
