AppleCare: Still buy it after bought the Mac?

Can you still buy the Mac online (from Apple or non-Apple online stores), then after its delivered buy the 3-YEAR AppleCare policy on the machine itself, like you previously could?
(or if you try and buy AppleCare after the machine is delivered, are you stuck to MONTHLY AppleCare plans only?)

Buying a machine for a relative, and need to know beforehand. Thanks! ;-)

Ah ok, looks like you can still do this (at least for Macs). Why do Apple have to over complicate everything these days, when there's no need. Found the page link, too:
