Applejack issues

The A tone is gone when I restart or boot my 10.3.9 iMac G-4 so
I do not know when to hold down the apple and S key to get
applejack to launch.
Anyone with ideas why the tone is gone?

I give up, what's an "A tone?"

(Apple start up chime, maybe?)

Try un-muting you machine before you reboot.

Or, turn off the computer completely. Turn it on and hold down whatever keys you want for your boot options?
