I think they need to significantly drop the price of iPod nanos. The larger capacity models should be priced at or under $100, with the smaller capacity model coming in around $80.
I'd recommend DEFINITELY waiting on the iPod Touch until the next gen. The next gen will definitely have an A5 (possibly an A6, but I doubt it) and have SIRI and other brilliant advances. Plus, there is a floating claim that the next gen will be some kinda major reworking that will be awesome. So basically, the two purchases I'm looking to make: An iPod touch and a MacBook Pro would be a gamble because of next-gen devices possibly being released soon. Aghh.
This is overboard. We don't need a camera on everything.
I want a *front facing* camera on the nano .. to use it as a FaceTime watch.. even if it could only be tethered to an iPhone or iPod Touch for that to work.. (BlueTooth? WiFI?) Passing Siri/notification data to/from an iPhone in your pocket would be a great addition as well.. sigh. Rear facing camera on a nano is full of fail..
Doesn't Apple have a patent showing a screen being used as a camera? That would be ideal..
grumble
The "PMP" market is pretty crummy right now in general. I gave up and just bought a phone. Samsung comes close in the feature department on the Galaxy Player but the screen is about as desirable as the TN panel on the iPod Touch.I always thought it was a bit strange that the iPod touch didn't get upgraded last cycle. The iPod touch is not as important as the iPhone, but it addresses a different market (one that Apple seems to "own" right now as Android competitors have not done well).
I'm now thinking that because the iPhone was released around the same time, Apple wanted to keep using the "older" technology to not compete with the iPhone 4s for production capacity.
Maybe they'll finally upgrade the iPod touch as well?

this is an easy one.
magic 8-ball (which has a 1.6 MP camera, btw), says NO.
1.3MP camera... The downfall of apple begins
Bring back the click wheel! Also, if you want to really pimp out the Nano add XM to it.
PS> Number of pics/videos I have taken on my 2.5 year old fifth-generation iPod nano: 0
They are running out of ideas. It's supposed to be a music player why not give it a better battery than a punny camera?
Not only that it doesn't make any sense from a sales perspective. Right now the nano is the premier gym music player. Adding a camera immediately shuts down that market as it would certain be added to the "banned devices" list.
