$400 x 5 = $2000
5 being the amount of years before Apple considers it vintage..
❌right to repair
✅right to replace (battery)

Seems a bit early for these bigger cuts? I bet we are starting to see a slowdown in consumer spending, especially for higher end items, led by rising fuel prices and other prices rising due to AI. Combine that with the people who know Apple has a bigger redesign coming and you end up with a lot fewer sales on the higher end, while the Neo sells very well to newer customers.

I have a 14 inch M1 Pro with 16gb of ram

And a 16 inch m4 Pro with 36gb of ram

They both are about the same in terms of how they ‘feel’. Sure one has AV1 support, better hdmi version, better renders - but the day to day feel between the two is pretty much the same.

Game using GeForce now so gpu speed means little.

There is little reason to upgrade until the screen gets upgraded - which has been the same for years

That's nice, but I will buy my next MacBook Pro from Apple so I can take advantage of the trade-in option to help pay for it.

Prices have skyrocketed. I got the 24GB MacBook Pro M4 Pro chip 512gb ssd version for $1699 last year. Similar offering is like $500 more this year with the M5 version.

MacBook Pro M4 Pro with 48GB and 512GB SSD is only $2049 at Microcenter.

That’s pretty darned good, except I reeeeeeally want the M5/A19’s memory protection.

Plus, technically, the M5’s GPU looks to be surprisingly better for games than M4. Still though!
To summarize, these discounts are no better (and in some cases worse) than Apple's educational pricing.
Yeah, but if you can’t get that. And these are pretty good?

I’m iffy on getting a system with less than 32GB though. Literally my 2012 Alienware notebook has 24GB!
