Apple's 20th Anniversary iPhones to Come in Two Sizes, Will Launch Alongside Gen 2 Foldable iPhone

Apple is "ramping up" work on the 20th anniversary iPhone that it plans to launch next year, reports Bloomberg. Multiple rumors have suggested the device will have an edge-to-edge display with curved glass at all sides for a nearly borderless visual effect.

There will be two anniversary models similar in size to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max that are launching this September. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be the same size as current iPhone 17 Pro models, which suggests the anniversary iPhone could be available in 6.3- and 6.9-inch sizes.

Apple plans to release the 20th anniversary iPhones alongside a second-generation foldable iPhone. All three devices are going to adopt a 2-nanometer A21 chip. Apple has an iPhone 19 in the works too, and it is set to run a different A21 chip, likely a base chip instead of a Pro chip.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max coming this year will have an A20 Pro processor built on Apple's 2-nanometer process. The A20 will mark the first node upgrade in several years and will see Apple transitioning from 3-nanometer chips for its flagship iPhones.

The standard iPhone 18 is not coming this fall, with Apple instead planning to debut it in spring 2027. It will use a less powerful A20 chip that's also built on the 2nm process.

Looks like 20th anniversary iPhone will not be a special model but instead a redesigned Pro and Pro Max named as 20/XX Pro and Pro Max. Anyway very interested to hear more rumors about this iPhone. Also waiting for a telephoto lens on foldable iPhone.

The 11 pro was 6mm less tall and 0.5mm less wide compared to the 17 pro, that really isn't any kind of noticeable difference.

Gen 2 foldable is a good idea, don’t bother with Gen 1 and let Apple fix the inevitable hardware issues.

My brother, I can tell a difference between my 15 pro and the 16 pro.

Basically, hold off on buying iPhone 18 Pro/Max. Buy Ultra 1 if you want foldable, but if you want conventional form factor, hold.

This also confirms the departure of the iPhone Air since there's no gen 3.

You’re ignoring depth and weight. The 17 pro is 10% larger in total volume and 13% heavier than the 11 pro. So yes, any individual measurement doesn’t seem like a big difference on paper. But hold one in each hand and the difference is obvious.

I have a great fear that they’ll be going back to the iPhone 6-11 slippery round profile.

I also assume this iPhone XX will just be the 2027 Pro range of phones rather than a specific anniversary edition.

That’s unless as @Leobreaker suggests, this releases as part of a $$$$ “ultra” range which could sell alongside the fold

This is sounding more like the iPhone X with it's "all screen edge-to-edge' display as well. Except for the thick black bezel.

Maybe 10 generations later, it'll be actually all screen.

I’ve always hated Samsung’s edge-to-edge phones and vowed never to buy one. Samsung moved on from that nonsense ages ago, and now, 10 years later, Apple’s coming out with the same rubbish? I hope not!

Really don't care for these as both models and the fold will have RIDICULOUS pricing. IF they replace the Pro models with these this year Apple will have made a mistake if it also does not launch new regular iPhones too.

Of course it’ll be a mainstream product. Apple wants the sales volume. Was iPhone X a collector’s item? The fold is an evolving product where size, shape, and price are still being defined by the market.

Seems unlikely given Gurman is talking base iPhone 19 for 2028 but is silent on any Air 3.
