The reason why those companies went with the Beats branding is just that, for branding. Apple blows everyone else's audio quality out of the water.
Apple won't put Beats logo on their own products like the iPhone. Apple were highly against network companies from putting their logo on the iPhone, something which a lot of companies allowed before the iPhone came out. Apple's designs are very minimal, if they had their way they wouldn't even have the FCC information on the back of the iPhone and would leave it with a simple Apple logo.what a joke. I guess a switch back to android and windows is in my future if apples products start coming with that "beats" garbage on them. blaaahhhhh why apple whyyyyy
Lol....it's like the reaction to the 1st round of the NFL Draft last night....people making HUGE assumptions based on very little information.
-The HTC One (with Beats Audio - whatever that means) sounded killer. Those Boomsound speakers were awesome. I'd love something like that in the iPhone or iPad.
-This isn't about headphones.....for the umpteenth time.
-iTunes Radio ISN'T wildly successful. And while Beats Music isn't either, merging the two or promoting Beats might be more successful for Apple.
-Apple's music business is sinking. Iovine could be a key to resurrecting it.
While $3.2 billion isn't anything to sneeze at, its approximately 2% of Apple's CASH reserve. Meaning this isn't a MASSIVE acquisition for them. Apple isn't in the habit of acquiring companies on a whim, there must be a reason. And until we know what that is, will you all please....CUT THE CRAP.
Wow, Steve Jobs would have never let this happen.
It basically boils down to personal preference when it comes to look/sound. (But numbers don't lie) people wouldn't let a company grab 51% of a market if it didn't have the best product out i.e., (apple makes the best phone PERIOD)
(lets call a spade a spade pls)
BMW? Really? Driven by arrogant middle aged businessmen the world over?
If Apple are really comparable to BMW in coolness then they really do need help.
One third of Apple's cash is in the US, so they have plenty of cash to complete a $3 billion acquisition without borrowing money.
Oh please, they're obviously not buying the users. They're buying a ready-made Spotify competitor and an executive who sits on several relevant boards and has extensive contacts in the industry for obtaining favourable streaming contracts. Simple.
Apple just killing off potential competition. That's the one reason this makes sense.
Just my thoughts about "Beats haters" and what would make someone a "hater". We obviously have lots of Apple, iPhone, iPad, Android, Google and Samsung haters on these forums, but I don't think we have Beats _haters_ here.
I don't think Beats has done anything to deserve "hate". There is dislike. If you asked me for headphone purchase advice and you suggested Beats headphones, I'd say "it's your money, but I'd buy something else for the same money and get lot better sound quality". But if I watched a stranger in a shop buying Beats headphones, I wouldn't run towards them and scream "evil, evil, evil!" (Well, I wouldn't if you bought a Samsung phone either, but you know what I mean).
So I wonder what kind of attitude would make someone a "Beats hater"? Let's say if Google came up and bought Beats for $4bn, I'd be happy because Apple doesn't waste $3bn. A Beats hater would surely be unhappy with this?
Have you seen the headphones forum? Anyone with Beats are pretty much slammed. As I read that section to view others recent purchases, that is where I drew my reference. It is not always an everyone fits the mold statement I agree.
Apple won't want the tacky stank of the 'Beats' brand rubbing off on their own. They'll either let the hardware business operate independently or they'll kill the brand altogether.
Really why should a company worth billions of dollars acquire another company before consulting MR forum posters first?
apple feels they are too "white".
Uh market share doesn't mean it's the best. If that was the case The Spice a girls would have been halite music. Fact of the matter is, there are many headphones that are better audio quality then most beats. And I'm saying that as a fan of beats. It's all about marketing and prestige.
Jobs would have never approved this acquisition. He was all about targeted small acquisitions that could be absorbed and immediately improve the Mac/iPhone/iPad or other core technologies within 12-24 months. Beats does nothing for Apple. Tim Cook has truly lost the plot.
One would think that Apple, the wealthiest consumer tech company on the planet, has earned the right to make acquisition decisions without having to consult with armchair CEOs who have no skin in the game whatsoever. I fully understand those who say they don't quite see why Apple would acquire Beats, but to flat-out say the deal is a bad idea is really showing bold-faced stupidity. It's like saying Steve Jobs should have consulted with a bunch of nobody losers before introducing the iPad. Apple is way up there as a company and somebody in the company was definitely making good decisions without consulting pundits outside of the company. I would think it's probably best to sit back and let's see what magic Apple can do with the acquisition.
I'm not really concerned if Apple might be making a mistake. As an Apple shareholder, I think it's worth the gamble. Apple makes far more than $3.2 billion in reserve cash every single quarter. As far as I'm concerned, the acquisition is already as good as paid for. I trust Apple knows what it is doing even if I don't understand its motives. I'm in favor of the deal because I see Apple stirring up the investor pot. It's time Apple made some exciting moves for a change. I don't see how Wall Street could hate this possible acquisition before it even takes place, yet cheer on Google and Amazon for acquiring companies producing robots and drones.
This forum is filled with Beats haters, so I am not surprised that the news is hurting our ears.
Be that as it may, it make no sense to me whatsoever.

What you all dont realize is the fact that Apple has no presence in the audio world when it comes to headphone.
They have the means to supply music, i.e. iphone, ipod, etc, but they dont have the actual product with an Apple logo to put on your head.
Lets face it, the headphones that come with the iphone and the ipod blow, nothing good about them.
Apple would not spend over 3 billion buying scrap. They are smarter than you. Quite frankly they dont care about your opinion of Beats, because for every nay sayer in this thread there will be 2 people that will buy Beats products. You are also likely very old, or middle aged to realize that Beats caters to the younger audience.
They would be spending double and triple the amount for those companies...Apple does not need Beats to create fashion headphones. If this were the goal, it would be better to buy any of a number of respected audio companies for the technology part.
