Why does Apple even have spokespeople if they never comment anyways?

Jobs only has so much time to send tersely worded emails.

Given Apple's recent explosion of products in the mobility space (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) and other low power devices (AppleTV overhaul, anyone?), it makes sense for them to snap up engineering talent and IP directly related to their products. Given the rumors that Intrinsity helped push the iPad's ARM chip from 650mhz to 1Ghz, Apple might have future plans regarding increasing the performance of low power chips in other devices such as the iPhone.

and upstream. It's conceivable that in a scant few years we could be looking at two different sizes of iPad's, the iPod Touch and iPhone and a heavily revamped Apple TV. We could also see a storage device from Apple and/or Media Center computer/server.

All could easily run Apple designed ARM based cores.

Even more confirmation that Apple is ready to go it on their own, in control of their own destiny. You seeing any of this, Intel?
That might be going a bit far. The comments following yours seem to indicate that Apple is investing in its future in mobile computing (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch).
Besides, Apple could go with AMD if they were sick of Intel.

I think Apple bought Intrinsity, just to rid the world of a horrible, made-up name like, "Intrinsity". Has nothing to do with technology or chip making talent.

To be honest, iDevices are what I see Apple investing its future in as well-- and I don't like it. Really, all Apple would have to do is make iPhone/iPad SDKs for use on the iPad, and they're free to axe their Mac line. Computers are nearly irrelevant to Apple's business now, with the SDKs really being the only thing forcing Apple to keep them. Yes, they do bring in a nice amount of revenue, but iDevices bring in more-- and it's clear this is where Apple wants to allocate its resources. It's sad, really-- it seems that after 2005, two years into the success of the iPod (it didn't really start to be the success that it is today until the iTMS) and following the Intel transition, Apple stopped really caring about their Mac line. Do you remember Jobs getting up on stage and claiming they had the "world's first 64-bit desktop computer?" Or "the world's fastest graphics?" They just don't do that anymore. All they've got going for them in the Mac line is OS X and pretty hardware, but then again that's all they need if they're only going after the consumer.
