I'm gonna blow your mind :) They *did* listen to their customers back then! Complaints at the time were that for several generations, the Macbook Pro looked basically the same, with small tweaks, mostly to the internals. The customers said they were bored, wanted something new. And you have to admit, what they came up with was new! They made it almost as thin and light as the Macbook Air, gave it a giant touchpad with 3D touch, and replaced the top row of function keys with a touchscreen that could change virtual keys or functionality based on an app's needs.
What? No one wished for this. lol Everyone wanted a retina display, they did it, did a great job, then they ruined it with the touchbar just like lenovo did with their thinkpads, that lasted a 2 years?, Apple foolishly kept it for longer.

This will be by far their biggest selling laptop, beating out when they introduced the retina, count on it.

People wanted different - sure, nobody asked for those specific changes, but hey, at the time people were excited by the touchbar and how thin and light the device was. The loss of ports and keyboard redesign to *make* it thin and light...yeah, everyone hated that immediately (though MKBHD liked the keyboard after using it for a month).

Ofcourse Apple was wrong. I have been saying it for years.

These new MacBook Pro’s are much better. Only thing missing is an ethernet port, but I guess we can’t have everything standard.
Well, to be fair almost any hotel you go to these days has wifi and usually not ethernet.

So I watched as we all did the presentation of Apple’s new pro laptops and other than the notch (not a good idea but not a deal breaker), I was excited to see all of the changes. But, it occurs to me in making the new Pro, Apple has admitted that just about every design decision they have made since 2015(ish) has been wrong.

Removal of MagSage - Bad
Removal of HDMI - Bad
Removal of SD CARD Slot - Bad
Touch Bar - Bad
Keyboard Redesign ( last year, I know) - Bad

I can’t be the only one who has noticed that. I am also putting that out there because as the owner of an Intel Macbook Pro, I am a little hesitant to swap it out.

Owning to their failure is a good thing in my opinion.

I'm excited about other Macs in 2022 (iMac and mini), possibly even a 32'' consumer grade display with retina display.

I refuse to give them a hard time over this. We shouldn't shame companies when they do the right thing by reversing course and make an amazing device like this. At the same time I’m not going to heap praise on them for these reversals either. Although I will heap praise for the M1 Max, mini LED, Pro Motion, crazy battery life, fast charging, and increased display size and pixel density. This thing is awesome.

No, because they removed the sd card and HDMI to cut production costs.
now things are cheaper to produce and they can add those things back and market they listen to the customers.

For the last 2 days, every time I opened the Apple website, I've been mentally visualizing Jony Ive getting a big, hard boot being kicked in his ass again, and again, and again.
Feels good.
