A former senior Apple insider is definitely worth something to a smaller startup company. You would be surprised who might want him and for what reasons.

Performance might affect a future stock grant, but this was stock he already earned that just had a clock on it.If he sucked at his job, and missed targets, why should he still get stock?
Must be nice.In the intervening months, Giannandrea has been in an advisory role, what Gurman described as "resting and vesting," meaning remaining on the payroll until stock grants vest.
Huge paycheck? Was there anything to show during his tenure at Apple?
Of all the reasons to switch platforms, I never imagined a fundamental part, like the keyboard, would be mismanaged enough to make me consider android.meanwhile the ios keyboard continues to be a joke and trash. whenever apple mentions an upcoming improved keyboard experience I just laugh now. The updated releases do NOT fix it.
Who would want Giannandrea to “advise” them on anything? Beggars belief.
“Giannandrea joined Apple from Google in 2018. Gurman says he is unlikely to join another major technology company and is instead expected to take seats on corporate boards and pursue startup advisory work.”
The big question is who, and why, anyone would want to hire this slug.
If he sucked at his job, and missed targets, why should he still get stock?
That wouldn’t happen to lower level employees who botched something so important.
Yeah sure. If the keyboard and Siri irk you enough to switch platforms, go for it.Of all the reasons to switch platforms, I never imagined a fundamental part, like the keyboard, would be mismanaged enough to make me consider android.
Clearly he wasn't stupid (he was a former CTO), but don't dress this up as something it wasn't, from here;I don't really understand this sentiment. By all accounts he was a researcher who was put into a management position and given an impossible task: fix Siri without replacing it.
As far as I can tell the main thing he did wrong was taking the job in the first place.
I’ve always used dictation, but now it’s a necessity. I only use Siri on my homepods and watch. I can’t believe how poor the keyboard has become, can you imagine physical keys changing sizes with software updates in order to emphasize those used most often, or whatever Apple’s goal is? I experienced three mistypes (four now, “mistyoes”) writing this.Yeah sure. If the keyboard and Siri irk you enough to switch platforms, go for it.
Exactly this, seems people on this forum have no clue what goes on at work places. Like this generation has never seen an office, and just buying/selling stock/gold/currency/crypto at home; or making stupid yt content. There is no way for the public to know if this failure was his doing or was it the leadership team's lack of vision and the corresponding lack of resources. After all the car project sucked everything else dry for nothing.
Innovation does not start with large undisciplined teams like the Apple car team. it was out of control from the start. Cook should have known that. Now Apple is behind on everything except new hardware, quality is tanking, etc.
