Everywhere I see this people are angry at cost...?

Buy AirPods or Airpod Pro’s if you want cheaper version. Buy Beats if you want over ear. Or go elsewhere... you dont have to buy them pmsl.

Also the amount of peopel that judge a product before even testing is is MAD.

I don't think that the weight will be an issue as much as the lack of padding on the headband (at least for those of us with little or no hair, by choice or by nature).

Ohh that's an interesting point, I hadn't thought of. Myself, I shave my head, and I notice with certain fabrics / shirts / hoodies they can kind of get caught or threads pull. I wonder how that would feel with this fabric / mesh overhead band.

That's certainly true that lighter headphones are much more comfortable.

Let's not forget that Apple makes Beats, which ADD WEIGHTS to their headphones.

I wonder if these are also so heavy because they add metal weights in them?

You do realize this bogus claim is based off someone tearing down a pair of fake Beats, right?

Beats still suck if you ask me though.

There isn’t a review, but out the gate the Sony’s have some advantages based on what you’re looking for. The noise cancellation has been superior, they have transparency modes, not really sold on Siri integration but I can see where it’s a plus. Since I have the AirPod pros, I can imagine that spatial audio on the Max will be amazing. It’s just not enough to warrant the price point I don’t think. Plus I’m not an audio engineer so I can’t accurately speak on it, but I believe high fidelity and lossless audio works better with wired headsets currently....but not a lot of consumers even have that quality of music produced from Apple Music, Spotify, etc. Tidal has it but.....who uses Tidal really?
True, but everyones hearing is different, and preferences subjective. I like a good flat frequency response, I like Sennheisers. I'd like to compare them, or is that out the window with computational audio now.

They look great, I hope they sound great, and I applaud Apple for this innovation. HOWEVER, The price point is completely wrong. Audiophiles know they can get better audio quality for far less. $399 would have been the sweet spot. But at this price, it’s better to wait for the next version and lower price point.

While many audiophiles may spend $549 on a cable, I do agree that the sweet spot price for this is $399.

My $20 over the ear headphones sound much better than my AirPods but I rarely use them since they are pretty heavy and uncomfortable to use over a long period of time. For me personally, comfort takes precedence over sound quality.

I love how we all talk about these headphones like we have tried them on or heard them. I'm going to wait to see how they sound for myself. I just ordered them if I don't like them I will return them. They could be amazing they could be crap I'll let you know. Stop hating start saving LOL Just joking but really

I can see the threads now.

“AirPods Max causing neck strain.”

If you had actually bothered to click through and read the article you linked, you would know that those headphones turned out to be counterfits:

Many of you took an interest in the Beats teardown post from earlier this week, and we learned a lot about metal being added to a variety of product designs (thanks commenters!). However, a few sharp-eyed readers contacted us with disturbing allegations: Those weren't actual Beats headphones at all, they claimed.

To each his or her own (as always), but that's a bit out of my acceptable range for headphones. Maybe they have that something extra for professional users.

the weight is the really nice thing about the AirPods Pro - very pleasant on a plane trip.
Have been using my Sony WH-1000XM3 less and less - and these days with the lock-downs even less

I love Apple products, but why Lightning again?

This move means an extra 5-10 years of Lightning to USB-C cable happiness.
Just make everything USB-C already.

MUCH SIMPLER.

I ordered a pair because I’m curious, but at that ridiculous price point and weight, they will have to be something really impressive for me not to send them back after a week of trial. I really doubt that these will compare to good headphones, but it will be fun to find out.

Right, but I have a good pair of headphones. They were $250 on sale, $350 originally. Noise cancelation, padding, audio input jack, something like 20 to 20kHz response, Bluetooth 4.2, weigh 10.23oz and they sound great too.

And you know what? I wouldn't buy them again. The audio quality doesn't make up for the negatives (battery powered if wireless, heavy, not comfortable in bed).

I'm not sure who they are targeted towards. People with too much money and not enough common sense is my guess, but that seems like a marketing fail if that's Apple's target.
