You think they might have moved it to make it coincide with a product launch (iPod Touch, nano, etc or the new "iPhone 6" or "iPhone LTE")?

And no, it's not the "iPhone 5" it's the 6th generation phone! There's no reason to call it the "iPhone 5"

It's been moved because of the Olympics in London during July and August. Do you have any idea how much of a mess London will be during the Olympics traffic wise? It's going to be a joke trying to get around. It's bad enough now during rush hour and now imagine adding a couple million more people and reduced number of lanes (since some have been designated as VIP Olympic lanes).

It's going to be a grid lock of epic proportions. The transport authorities' solution is to put up posters telling people how awesome it is to walk to work as opposed to using their normal public transport, taxi or own car during the Olympics.

Just wondering why they don't offer this in the U.S.

Because the US is too huge to hold an event like this. You're not going to pay $200+ dollars to go to a place like New York just to see your favorite act for one night. Nor would you get on a bus or train to do so. You'll just wait until they're in town. Unless you're a diehard fan, but there's not many of those around here that aren't 14 year-olds.

You could fit the UK into Texas about 3 times, just to put that into perspective for you.

More stuff that got put off, makes a lot of sense bud.

Usher (September 1), Emeli Sandé (September 5), Jack White (September 8), Norah Jones (September 10), and One Direction (September 20).
Wow, Norah Jones on that list? Who would have thunk that.

Maybe itunes should start sponsoring some talent because popular music is getting so dead boring nowadays... the guys from this line up wouldn't have even made it to an Y (as in a,b,c,d...y,z) stage at woodstock.

Itunes festival sixties seventies: dylan, stones, marley, led zep, beatles, fleetwood mac, black sabbath, deep purple, cream... list can go one for another 200+ names, after which, and arguably after the 400+ name on the list, would be Jack White (I like you Jack but because it's the 2010s), and of course the rest making a name for their selves nowadays would be groupies or roadies or something.

We have the technology but we don't have the talent anymore, which is rather sad if you think about it. :( I 'd drop all my macs, ipods, and ipads, for a couple of weeks in said eras with a turntable and cassette player.

We all like our Apple stuff, but dude, get a life. Just because it takes a few months longer for them to get stuff out doesn't mean you need to be bitter about it.

It's already been mentioned a few times, but this event was almost definitely delayed due to a "little" thing being hosted in London this summer called the Olympics. It's already been predicted that the London infrastructure will be overloaded and cannot support the millions of projected visitors.

The world doesn't revolve around Apple events.

As for the product delays; I thought the focus this summer was supposed to be Mountain Lion. And the iPod events were always in the fall, so it makes sense to streamline and announce the iPhone and iPod along with the new iOS in the fall.

I am not your friend, guy.

The UK is awesome for music, so many different styles of artists. Can't see myself going London to see One Direction though!

Things must be REALLY bad where you are if you think that.

As someone else said later in this thread-the technology is here- sadly, the true musican-based acts died out about 15 years ago. :(

I think its possible that we'll see Lady Gaga there since her tour will have reached London in September... I mean, it would make sense for them to ask her to come considering the records she has broken.

:)

Don't say things like that. A musician is someone who makes music. Thats it. It doesn't matter the genre, or amount of technology used, how old they are, or where they're from. Music is infinite, it can go in any direction we take it. If you actually take time to look around, you'd find some extremely talented artists out there.

Even in the Pop Industry, people underestimate for example, Lady Gaga's talent simply because of her art and clothing but the truth is that she has amazing talent (look it up if you're skeptical), heck, people did that to The Beatles too, but now they're were named some of the greatest bands of all time. You should give someone new a chance, even if they aren't like the old great artists. Besides, its a good things people aren't like the oldies, then we'd grow bored because everyone would sound the same.

:)

As the transport secretary recently said:
"re-route, re-time, re-mode"

Pretty cheesy way of saying, 'walk to work'.

Going to London? With the exception of Jack White, if that lot were playing outside my window I'd close the bloody curtains.

Tim putting off things that Jobs was serious about. I hope he's having fun floating around in all that cash that Jobs worked hard for!:mad::mad:

Or could it possibly be that little sports carnival they call the Olympics which runs in London from July 27 to August 12 which has caused the postponement?

I imagine they didn't want to try and organize it during the Olympics.

They might have been blocked from doing so. As might any major event during that time.

Truth is that I think that September might be a better time since everyone is thinking iPod/iPhone/iTunes during that time anyway.

1. Tim did some of the work as well. In fact he might have done more of it since a major part of his job was actually getting the contracts together that gave Apple those crazy ass discounts on parts etc.

2. The Olympics are at the same time and shocking but London might care more about that than a music festival that happens every year and isn't 1/10th as expensive for the country as putting on the Olympics will be.

3. Jobs didn't really do that much work compared to the folks at Foxconn, at their own stores etc. so if you are going to accuse Cook of getting rich off other folks work, you have to do the same for Jobs .

Wow...

...great list of artists there.
Too bad Apple hasn't filled one of the best music venue's in London with London's best musicians. I'd just prefer to pay £20 for a regular ticket to a good musician than sign up to a lottery of tickets with hardly any chance of winning one. Having said that, Emeli Sande's quite talented, might check her out.

I'll go with Occam's razor and say it's the Olympics.

Yes, thank you, as I've posted before, I didn't realize that was happening. I actually posted that (the me not knowing part) before you decided to quote my other post.
