All this talk of apricots and peaches has got me thinking - I wonder if Apple will ever release a new, completely different product line to complement the Mac? As opposed to the Macintosh, they could call it the Fameuse, the Golden Russet, the Rhode Island Green, the Delicious.... ;)

Yeah, it's been discussed. Apple did come out with the Pippin, which is in the apple theme, as well as the Newton which is obviously drawn from the Apple connection. But they missed opportunities, scalable computing on the Mac should be called Orchard: hey man, you should see my company's render-farm... no man, you should see our Orchard, it's amazing. But, it doesn't seem like they're going anywhere specific with the Apple theme, so maybe not. time will tell. but the names of other apples are pretty bad, if you think about it... mcintosh was the obvious choice.

Yah, that was exactly my thought as well - the other types of apple (some of which I named above) don't exactly lend themselves to hip, cool computer names. ;)

HI ALL, FROM ROB

hello everyone. Thanks for your great response. I now have 360 emails to read and analyse. (i soo wish i had done it dynamically)

i don't really need anymore, so could you only submit more if you have comprehensive comments to say, referring to the advertising especially. (one of the last two fields)

thanks to all who contributed, and i will endeavour to read them all.

I have started a new thread, called "why i love apples more than oranges".
The basic question is, WHY are you so passionate about apple products. Why do they give your life purpose? This might seem quite extreme to a few, but from my many replies, Apple seems to be a way of life for you guys.

Rob.
