What was wrong with it?hopefully its not the horse crap Greyhound was. But this has my attention for sure.

I totally agree. I think the big difference was Band of Brothers followed many characters and there was a real threat that who the story was following would die (and it really hit hard whenever one did). The Pacific only really followed 3 characters (only 1 of which was interesting as portrayed), so there was little threat they would be killed, nor were there the same bonds between characters.
I hope this series is more like the Band of Brothers format.
Ditto 100%. Though more often than every few years for me.![]()
I also enjoyed The Pacific, but not to the same extent, and don't have the desire to re-watch it. I'm not 100% sure why to be honest. Something about BoB made it feel more like a connection with the real people to me.
Why, then you never trust projects that don't have people with 20 years of experience. So if they’re using an old success on their resume you don’t trust them. What if they’re new to the game and have no experience with show running?
Right! I feel like in every episode another HomePod materializes somewhere.Product placement is going to be a challenge for this one.
I'm looking at you Servant....
I think it was more than that. BoB was able to follow one company from Paratrooper training through the end of the war.
The Pacific not just followed three main people. They were in different groups for the most part. I assume they did this to follow more of the Pacific campaign. Otherwise trying to find one company would have cut out a lot of the island hopping done.
I think they did an admirable job with both. The Pacific had a much more difficult side of the war to follow. As there just isn't all the interaction with towns, villages and locals. Also by following three characters. We saw a more in depth look at the psychological effects of war. Which tended to slow down the pace of the show and made it more somber.
While both were quite brutal. BoB just felt more hopeful and upbeat. At least there were more moments of carefree levity. Plus experience the joy and gratitude of freed people.
I am curious how "Master's of Air" will go. I haven't read the book. I suppose I will now.
I hope it’s as good as it’s predecessors.
I didn't feel Greyhound lived up to the trailer hype, like some movies the trailer was excellent and I watched it release day on the big screen, but after the movie it did not have any memorable moments. What was wrong with it?
Oh, most def.I felt BoB was stronger compared to TP.
Somewhere, Tarantino is grinning.never trust projects that dig up an old name 20 years later.
10 episodes.200m - that’s an expensive shmovie
My dad was a tail gunner on a B17. Shot down over Germany towards the end of the war and a POW for 9 months. Liberated by the Russians as they moved west. Can't claim to know how the scripts will be written, but the book is about more than just the bomber crews. WWII was the first time that the U.S. had conducted an air war and as a result had to learn things the hard way. For example, the reason the U.S. bombers had so many gun turrets was because the Pentagon initially believed that adding them would eliminate the need for fighter escort. It took catastrophic loss of life and planes for the Pentagon to change that view.
Me too. I am glad that the ending never changes.Band of Brothers was phenomenal. I re-watch it every few years and it still holds up.
I liked The Pacific, but it was different in a large part because the campaign was so different.I was ok with, but wasn't as big a fan of The Pacific. Hopefully this new series is the same quality of BoB.
They could do it like Microsoft does on all those TV shows where there is a giant windows logo on the back of displays they did not make and do not sell.Product placement is going to be a challenge for this one.
Haha, very involved? They are the least involved if at all. It's just a recognition credit, nothing more.Tom and Steven are both very involved -- executive producers.
With Apple's track record so far, I feel about as comfortable as possible with Apple putting out something in BoB's ballpark in terms of quality. (In terms of the intangibles that BoB has going for it, that's a different story altogether).Good luck meeting the unparalleled quality of Band of Brothers
10 episode series are actually longer than any movie. So if they're putting that kind of money in, they are clearly going for film quality. And that's what this series deserves.10 episodes.
