Apple's Beautiful Barcelona Store Reopens With Pickup Station and More

Apple's beautiful Passeig de Gràcia store in the heart of Barcelona reopened today, after being closed for around three months for renovations.

According to the Spanish blog Applesfera, the store's large video wall has been replaced with a dedicated Apple Pickup station for online orders. The indoor trees and wood cube seats that surrounded the screen have also been removed. With these fixtures removed, the store's iconic glass staircase is more visible again.

In addition, the store's terrazzo floor has received a brighter white finish.

Apple Passeig de Gràcia first opened in 2012, and it is one of the company's flagship retail locations. The store is on one of the most popular avenues in Barcelona, inside a historic former bank building with a stunning stone facade.

I dropped in a few hours ago (I deliberately arranged my trip to Barcelona to coincide with the reopening — does that make me a sad person?). I didn’t notice any changes from my visit last year. This probably says more about my powers of observation than anything else!

I was in Barcelona in February while the store was closed, had to go to the other location in Sant Andreu. This one is really nice, a beautiful location.

First Apple Store trip in a while last Thursday. My Ultra 2 unfortunately had the black screen of death. The repair process, sitting on the scattered wooden cubes in a small space, I felt like I was at school 35 years ago. The young and moody assistant who talked down at me for saying there were similar stories on Reddit about the black screen of death - ‘yeah look, you can find anything on Reddit!’ ‘If there was a problem I can assure you that Apple would issue a recall!’.. like calm down mate, Jesus. Then scolding me for wearing it in the shower and I had better hope it wasn’t water related (it’s been replaced today under limited warranty at 8 months.)

It was a downer. And I used to love going to the Apple Store.

The wooden box concept feels like it needs an overhaul. Especially with a high and mighty consultant. It was Apple Robina, Queensland Australia.
