They charge you for the gift card, but the value of the gift card is deducted from the cost of the product that you're purchasing.

For example, if you're buying something for $1,000 with a $200 gift card, you get charged $200 for the gift card plus $1,000-$200=$800 for the product. The end result is you pay full price for the product but get the gift card for free.
Ohhh yea… just now realized the price charged for the product was AED2799 instead of the usual price of AED2999. My eyes are playing a trick on me early morning. Thank you for clarifying… I was utterly confused for a moment. My ignorance.

Huh. Skimming the list it looks like practically everything they make except the 16” MacBook Pro, and the iPhone 13’s. Sigh.

Pretty much everything released within the past six months is excluded

I should have waited until today! I anticipated that Beats Flex would not have gift vouchers attached. Going crazy in my uni hall, ;):p:(:p:(:p

Are you within the return period? Just take them back and re-buy them.

A serious question. I'm planning to get a couple of things and I'd like to know how this works. Should I put everything in an Apple Store bag and then at one minute past midnight tonight click 'buy', or would the sale items have different SKUs and need to be added to the bag after midnight?

For those interested, I'm planning on getting an 11" iPad Pro and a 16" Apple Silicon MBP. I've tossed around getting a 12.9" iPad instead of the MBP but at the end of the day the MBP is more useful as it runs full versions of the desktop apps I'm using. However I must confess I keep going back and forth on it. :)

Get the 16" MacBook Pro. It's vastly more powerful than the iPad Pro, bigger display and a lot better for productivity. You've got the 11" iPad Pro if you want portability and it has the exact same chip as the 12.9".

Disappointed you can't combine with education/veteran pricing. Was gonna pick up the M1 11" iPad Pro to replace my 12.9" which I find too unwieldy as a tablet. With the gift cards it was gonna be about a net even trade.

Guess I'll be grabbing the 2nd Generation 11" iPad Pro from the refurbished store.

Yes that’s right. I replaced my AirPod pros and was billed £199 and £40 for the voucher. That’s £239 which is a retail price but of course I now have a £40 voucher

As if Apple will allow them to succeed and with all the tracking tech built in, isn't Apple one of the dumbest companies to target? Thieves should maybe try a second hand bookstore where no ones really cares or has the resources to hunt them down.
The thieves usually resell the stolen merchandise for cash so it’s unlikely they will be caught. But your point is correct, whoever activates those new devices could get into a lot of trouble.

I’ve been to the Union Square Apple store many times, and I’ve talked to many of the other merchants in that area (CVS, Louis Vuitton, North Face, etc. — Union Square is essentially an outdoor shopping mall). The smash and grab thefts have been happening for a while, but according to store owners, they have increased in the last 12-18 months. That’s why you see it in the news today.

I was expecting to use my gift card to pay for subscriptions but alas: “Apple Store Gift Cards may only be used for purchases in New Zealand at the Apple Online Store…Apple Gift Cards cannot used for purchases at or for: iTunes, the App Store, the Mac App Store, the iBookstore”

Planning to go to Apple Store tomorrow to buy Watch SE, the question is when I buy it can I use the $50 gift card for it right away?
If you’re talking about using the gift card to pay part of the Watch price, I’m going to guess that’s a strong “no”. There is no point in time when you own the gift card (which you will soon receive as a reward for buying the Watch), but when you still haven’t yet paid for the Watch. You’d be essentially asking to borrow a gift card from them for free.

Also consider that part of the reason for giving you a gift card, rather than just reducing the price of the Watch, is to get you to come back later and buy something else and put the gift card towards that purchase. If they were to let you use the card for the Watch, they’d end up with you making one purchase instead of two.

Which is bound to cause just such confusion!

I suppose this is to protect Apple from returns after the gift card is used . . . if you return the device then you get the lower price back and have the gift card (which maybe you've given as a gift or just spent already).

Right . . . so now I make two separate purchases with separate packaging . . .

Hi. Can I ask (for those of you who've already taken advantage of the offer), how long did you have to wait before receiving your gift card? Is it instant, or pretty soon after purchase? Thanks.

I’m in the UK and I received it within the hour via email and then I was able to add it to my wallet

In the US it says will be sent when the product ships . . . meanwhile I went to ship appleTV and it estimated shipping would take until Dec. 10-21 (standard delivery).
My AirPods went to preparing to ship almost immediately and then to shipped within the hour. I think you’ll have to wait for your gift token until your goods are shipped

I'm in New Zealand - I ordered more than 24 hours ago but haven't received any gift cards yet.

However, none of my purchases have shipped yet (I've ordered items with custom upgrades), so as stated above, I believe they're emailing the gift cards after your order is despatched.

Edited to add - I've just looked at one of my orders, and against the gift card it says "Arrives within 24 hours via email", so I guess that means within 24 hours of the main item in your order being shipped.
