It is indeed a black Friday. :(
It really seems like Apple can go either way...
Discount more heavily, get/keep more people into the Apple ecosystem
Just wait out, and get more profits from less discounts. They've got "that brand" that making less sales isn't as detrimental.

I ordered a 27" Imac with the 256ssd on Black Friday. The order quickly confirmed and they send me the gift card via email. I did more reading and found that if you want the VESA mount option, you need to select that when you place your order. I contacted Apple the following day; they told me that I could cancel the order and reorder the computer, but that I would loose the gift card. They suggested that I could take delivery of the computer, then exchange it for the model with the VESA mount (which I would have to reorder build to order). So the computer arrived at the Apple store today. I called and started the process to make the switch. The bottom line is that I could not "exchange" the computer, rather I would need to return it and reorder it...but that my refund would be $150 less (!) So basically I would loose the value of the gift card! And if I simply return the computer the refund is less $150 to cover the cost of the gift card. Not such a great deal after all...unless I'm missing something. Any advice?

Edit: After reading this policy, I don't see anyway around losing the gift card if an exchange is made: https://images.apple.com/promo/pdf/EN_US_BF_110817.pdf

Well, this is turning into a nightmare! I cancelled the order and Apple processed the refund, less $150 for the gift card.

Today I went to use the $150 gift card...and it wasn't valid! On the phone with them now.

After 1 hour on the phone (including 20 minute wait time) they finally refunded the $150. They looked up the gift card to confirm that it was not used. The refund will process in 48 hours so I will wait for the final verdict.
