Having lived in Boston, I can never get used to it.

"Pahrk tha blue cah in Bahsten Yahrd"

Wicked awesome :p

Luckily there is no such thing as a New York accent...

BTW: The usual form of that sentence is "Hahvad Yahd", as there is no "Bahsten Yahrd"

Now I'll get some kwawfee...:D

siri is way better than google now and with this non-stop improvement i'm sure they'll further strengthen their lead.

Just in case you don't know, people have been using the feminine pronoun to refer to things, like ships for example, for hundreds if not thousands of years.

I'm sure you missed the ';)' he put in there at the end to symbolize sarcasm

lol touché

Hahvad Yahd, my bad, I added the "r" for emphasis ;)

yeah, they should keep on working on siri, its very slow when compared to google now, NOW is way better.

Obviously trips to a server will be needed for some queries but right now far to much traffic is generated by Siri. So what we need is a combination of AI improvements and processor performance improvements to allow for the majority of Siri speech recognition and AI processing to be done locally on a device.
We already have that, it's called a laptop.

Damn why Boston , ever here how they pronounce their words lol

haha if you grew up around here it would sound normal. Every different region has it's own dialect and accent.

I could say the same thing about New Yawwwk.

You should stop by the packie to get some special ingredients for that coffee. lol.

Teams working on improving Siri !?
Too late, it's been months I gave up this betacrap and I'm using Google Search app: fast and reliable, everything Siri isn't.

Dude I'm born and raised in New England I'm not talking out my ass lol

I can't compose a short text for the life of me with Siri so I stopped using it. It always messes up 2-3 words. I have a deep voice so maybe that has to do with it.

Voice search is a gimmick, period.

Whether it's Apple, Google, or whoever else. Doesn't mean it's not nice to have but to think there's actual, widespread usage of it is just being naive.
I think it has a use, but that is in areas where the technology hasn't really been introduced in a widespread fashion yet. As far as Apple goes, iOS in the car would benefit from it to the point where it might make sense for a driver to use voice as the primary input method. To a lesser extent it might also be useful with a TV for some actions.

I'm not sold on it in it's current implementation on the iPhone since I'll be holding the device anyway, but certainly voice interaction has a place when the device may not readily be available to touch directly.

well, as you know siri is very slow when it's getting the answer from the web. i'd like to see this thing improve, it's really frustrating.

Apple has been working hard to improve Siri since the software's debut in 2011. With iOS 6, Siri gained the ability to provide sports scores, make reservations, launch apps, and locate movie listings. In iOS 7, Siri will see further improvements, including speed enhancements, better pronunciation, and new voices.

"Working hard" doesn't mean they've been working on the right things. Most of what they've been doing is just plugging in external APIs. That's not the kind of hard work which needs to be done, which is turning Siri into a true digital assistant.

For instance, I was driving the other day and passed a restaurant I hadn't seen before and wondered what it was like. I wanted to be able to say, "Siri, tell me about _____ restaurant", and it would go look up the name in my immediate area and give me a quick Yelp synopsis. This doesn't even require new datasets, this is just about making Siri more useful. It also needs to be more conversational; that is, keep knowledge of what you've already talked about. So if I said, "That sounds great, make a reservation for me tomorrow at 8" it would already have contextual knowledge that I'm still talking about the same restaurant and use another API to make reservations.

There's many other use-cases like this; some are low-hanging fruit like that example, and some will require some very hard machine learning advancements, but I believe this is what Steve's long-term goal with Siri was. I hope that Apple/Tim doesn't turn it into a cheap and mostly useless fact checker.

In IOS 7 - Siri is to be renamed more accurately to reflect its bloated-yet-inefficient ability ... and will be called: FACT HUNT

The user will be requested to begin each query with :
Oi! FACT HUNT ... What Is The Ambient Termperature In Nairobi Desert Currently?
To which it will then reply
"You Will Not Need An Umbrella In Nairobi Desert Today"

About as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike, then ... Thanks.:(

It's more than just a gimmick, there are legitimate uses.

I use it all the time to change songs in my car. Hell of a lot safer to just press the button and call out what song I want to hear than to be fiddling with a touch screen while driving.

You're driving
Why don't you concentrate on that
Any song will do

Back in the old days we just turned on the radio and sang along

it's not the old days anymore. have you heard the crap on the radio these days? no thank you.

This is where the consumers lose.

Clearly google now is the far superior product.

Yet apple won't implement it into their products.

I wish we could of worked this out :(

Omg, you are a riot!!!!!!
Why don't you go read one of the COUNTLESS articles about how Google Now, ironically is available on a MUCH higher percentage of Apple's phones than Android phones?? My son only has an iPhone 4.. he uses Google Now to get "Siri-like" capabilities.. I use an iPhone 5, I use Siri more.... but still VERY much enjoy the handy cards in Google Now.
Please stop spreading lies & FUD. There's NO shame in not knowing something...... unless you publicly claim that you do & stick your foot in your mouth!!

Never activated SIRI. Don't even know people, who did. Never met or saw anyone, who was using Siri.
Apple should invest more energy in other features. Connectivity in form of adaptors for USB flash drives and Superdrive, for example.
