Cards wasn't strong enough as a standalone app. Many people used just once, then forgot about.

Once Apple revamps iPhoto for iOS 7, I wonder if they will integrate the standalone Cards features?

I used this app every chance I got. My friends and family were always blown away by the cards. It's better than iPhoto '11 because the iOS app actually mailed the cards for you. Incredibly disappointed to see that this was discontinued. I hope they integrate the cards app into an iOS iPhoto revamp.

I used Cards several times. It was perfect for birthday cards. Especially since I keep my whole photo library on my iPhone. A quick photo edit in Snapseed or Camera+ and then add to Cards. I appreciated the push notification that the card had been delivered.
Luckily I have a few days before my wife's birthday to get a card from the store.

They didn't really drop the service, as I've now realized with the article update, you can just make them with iPhoto. I'll miss the push notifications though.

My guess is since iPhoto for iOS is now free (for new iOS devices anyway) the next major update will include cards support. Maybe.

Well, integration with iPhoto would make more sense than having a stand-alone app just for cards. I'm just surprised that they didn't mention that. Then again, like you said, maybe.

Too bad.

I really liked this app and I hope they decide to bring it back, in some form, to iOS iPhoto. Push notifications and direct mailing to recipient really made this app great. iPhoto for Mac just mails the cards to you then you have to mail them out.

If you really miss it, like me, you can always fill out one of these.

Stupid Apple!! This service was a bargain and excellent quality letterpress.

It was a good service. But I'm sure that the reason it was discontinued was because not enough people were using it to justify the costs of overhead. In other words, if it was making Apple money they would have left it active.

Too bad. It was a bargain for the quality, and I loved sending these to family & friends when I'm abroad for work.

Thanks to those who've recommended similar services, and please keep them coming!

In Australia the Cards app still works. With zero notification to say it's discontinued in the app.
Can anyone explain this?

Also the Apple page says the cards iOS app is discontinued. Not the card service itself. That can be done through iPhoto in the Mac.

Bought cards twice, used the actual app once.

Both times the card were very high quality, sad to see the cards feature go, hope they still continue to do calendars.

I used it once. Took 6 days to arrive! Moonpig in the uk is more customsible albeit not as subtle or elegant but has next day delivery if you buy before 3pm

I used it twice, first time it took 3 days to reach the address, I was so impressed and used it again, it ended up doing circuits of Europe for a month before finally making it.

This is extremely disappointing. I used cards several times per month for birthdays and holidays.

The people always received them and were always VERY impressed with the quality.

Hopefully I can find a suitable replacement with similar cost & quality. And if I do it still won't be as easy and convenient as Cards...

Very disappointing Apple. :(

EDIT: I filled out a feedback form basically begging them not to get rid of it. If you used and liked cards, PLEASE FILL ONE OUT!

I'm really disappointed by this also. I used to send thank you cards while I was at a dinner invitation using a picture I just snapped on my phone and my friends and family always enjoyed the timely and beautifully customized card. iPhoto cards are more expensive and they're not as spur of the moment as these cards were, especially because they allowed you to pull contact data directly and create and mail the card in one fell swoop. It was a brilliant application and I will be saddened by its loss. :(
