Well... He works for a Apple, albeit a retail store. If someone from NASA told me the world was going to end with experience and sounded authentic, it would give it some legitimacy.

Sorry if someone at nasa told me the word is going to end tomorrow I would have to take that with a gain of salt, because first of all they are not GOD. 2 they are still trying to figure the universe they know a few things about it but not all. 3 I don't think Apple is going to share that information with a store clerk, someone higher up in the company maybe I could see that. In the end though it's is possible that they don't pay a lot to produced, but who really knows how much right? And being that one of the genius told u that, then I could also understand why u would believe what he told u of the cost to manufacture these cables. Because u didn't here this info from anyone out side the company. Weather this info is correct none of us on here will never know. It would be a long shot but we could shoot Tim email and ask him maybe?#

He wasn't a Genius, but he had talks with Geniuses before. He was just in sales, I believe. He activated my replacement phone, so actually not sure.

The Geniuses don't know any more about the manufacturing costs of a lightning cable than the janitors who clean the toilets at the Apple Store.

There's also gotta be a reason as to why there are so many MFi cables on the market today. If my research on MFi certification is right, it's $4 per cable. Some are sold at $8. Little margin for profit, but also means small costs for manufacturing.

I think its cheaper than that. Maybe they have to pay Apple for the manufacturing of the lighting part. I would think the what they paid for the cost of the plastic and wiring. Then, too, the more you make the cheaper it cost. ex. 100 units $100. 1000 units $10
