So I recently ordered a MBP 16 (i9 2.3GHZ, 64GB of RAM, 5600m, 1TB SSD) and the estimated delivery date for my unit is Sept 30th - Oct 2nd. This is the first time I've ever ordered a MBP directly from Apple, all of my other MB's were base models bought from Best Buy so I'm just wondering how accurate these dates are. Is there a chance I'll receive my MBP 16 sooner rather than later? Status says they have all the parts needed to build my MBP so I hope it gets to me asap.

Everyone's experience with ordering directly from Apple would be appreciated!

Thanks!

With COVID-19, it's hard to say.
But previously, I usually got mine a day or two earlier than Apple's estimated delivery date.

Depends where you are. But, my experience has been Apple gives you a date they know they can meet and usually delivers earlier than that date.

That's good to know, I guess I can dream about getting it next week lol

I'm in Minnesota, if they have all the parts I hope it doesn't take as long as they stated.

There are several steps on a custom order. In addition to having parts, they have to have a build slot and then there shipping. The unit will likely be built in China. If so, it first needs to get shipped from factory to Shanghai. It will take a day or so to clear Chinese export control. From there it will fly to Juneau, AK and then to Louisville. There it will take a day or so to clear US import customs. And then be sent to you in Minnesota via Fedex domestic shipping, which will take overnight.

Juneau? I though all transit goes through Anchorage.
Got any source for that?

You will likely get it sooner. My wife ordered the MB Air and the delivery date was between 9/23-26. It was shipped only last Friday, 9/11 and was delivered today.

I think you will get it a little ahead of schedule, but the current situation of crazy hurricanes, a pandemic, earthquakes, and attacking polar bears throws everything into question. I went refurbished as I needed ASAP and they were able to do next day delivery on a BTO model (I got a 5500 as opposed to the 5600).

Nice spec BTW.
