"Xcode Automatic Configuration" is still down that's why Xcode 5 isn't talking with the dev center yet.

Just a note on adding devices. I added two new devices today and the hastily written web code hoses the html escaping of any special characters.

So when you add devices double check the name got entered correctly if you use anything besides numbers and letters. The edit screen for a device did let me fix the escaping errors.

Thanks for the info, and heads up :)

Hopefully there was sarcasm in your post I overlooked, you are a "developer" who made a poor choice to install a beta on his primary phone, or typical user who doesn't know any better.

Lol there was sarcasm. I edited my post almost immediately after posting it and said that I'm not funny.

Yes, I add it manually from here: https://developer.apple.com/account/ios/device/deviceCreate.action

And was able to activate and install beta 3, finally !!!!

I just exchanged my iPhone 5 last Saturday due to Power button issue, and was not able to have beta3.

This ^ is the only way to register a new device at the moment. Xcode registration uses the member center portal (at least it did before the re-write) to register UDID's. So if the member center is down, Xcode wouldn't be able to access either.

I would imagine it was the dev centre engineers that fixed it as opposed to some 'SWAT team' just because they know the site better than anyone else. It would have taken a hell of a lot longer if an external person with no idea how the site works came in to fix it (the whole 'adding a programmer, losing a programmer' issue). Having said that I'm sure the dev centre engineers did pick the brains of others with experience for some advice

I hope apple gets hacked again. One day ago it was radnomly signing iOS 6.0.1,but I missed my chance to downgrade.

If it gets hacked again, maybe it will accedently sign 6.0.1 again,so i can downgrade :D

I know of one person who would go nuts about this. If he were still around. I hope Apple has not started to rest due to the lack of passion from Steve.

While I don't agree with screaming at employees, I can appreciate it from his passion standpoint.

Enough with stupid comment about what Jobs Would have done...

The servers were attacked, apple is working like crazy to restore it. Don't be simplistic as to think that Jobs would have made a miracle...

Trying to add device through Developer Portal

Hi all,

I am pretty new to iOS dev, but I have had my iPhone setup to test on for several months. I've been waiting to add my 2nd device, an iPad, to my development profile this week with the portal down.

Now that it is partially back up, can I get my iPad set up to install test development apps to it?

I successfully added the device by entering name and UDID in the portal. But it is not in my development provisioning profile. Do i make a new Provisioning profile now?

Does anybody know if this can be accomplished at this point and a quick step by step on what I should do to load test apps on my new device?

Thanks!

I think I must be missing something because I cannot get beta 3 to install on any of the 2 devices that need it. Tired different computers, checking host files and cannot get it to get past extracting, just error 4027. Did you have to do anything special to get it installed?

Added new device without Xcode

I was able to add my new device!

First, I verified I had added the device in Apple Developer Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles by seeing its name and UDID under Devices->All.

Then I hit the plus sign under Provisioning Profiles and checkmarked iOS App Development. My wildcard ID was already setup. Also, my certificate was already setup. Then I selected both of my devices listed. Then I gave it a recognizable name and clicked Generate.

Then I clicked Download.

Then I double clicked downloaded file.

After that Xcode could install my test apps to this new device!

....Apple has been "working around the clock" on a complete overhaul of its developer systems since the Developer Center was taken down and has noted that developer memberships and apps set to expire during the outage will be given an extension to account for the significant downtime.

While the developer portal looks largely the same, it is likely that sweeping internal changes have been implemented. After news of the security breach, Apple said that it was completely overhauling its developer system, updating server software, and rebuilding its entire database.

I wonder if Apple has a SWAT team of the very best of programmers, who take charge at special tasks or projects to get things done quickly. When there is a big fire, the team moves in to get things done quickly and smoothly.

Their systems development and maintenance people reportedly move around all the time, so that they're all knowledgeable about all the software, to prevent the kind of 'narrow' specialization that plagues some other companies.

Having said that, they must have pulled out all the stops to do this complete Dev Center overhaul, and perhaps dozens, if not hundreds, of software specialists working on iOS7 and/or Mavericks were pulled from these tasks, to get that Dev Center overhaul done, and minimize it's downtime.

If iOS7 Beta 4 comes out on the 29th as expected, I'd say thats a pretty good sign, they're on the ball in Cupertino.

I added the phone to the provisioning profile using this link:https://developer.apple.com/account/ios/profile/profileList.action
Add the provisioning profile to the phone using the Organizer.

these are the only things I did before beta3 installation.

I am honestly stuck here. Xcode cannot connect to the member centre because on the status page it still says its down so it cannot get any provisioning certificates. One of the devices is not in my in my possession right now and is trying to be updated by someone else so I know its not just my computer thats having the problems right now. I have the beta file and after it gets past the extracting firmware part on iTunes it fails and throws error 4027 at me. I guess I will just have to wait till either beta 4 comes out and see if the servers will allow it then or if the members centre comes back online perhaps that will give me some help. Problem being I now have a device stuck back on iOS 6 because the person let beta 1 expire and it expired now I can't get them back onto beta 3 and iv been trying to restore one of my other devices to make sure they are not tripping up somewhere but I am hitting the same brick wall!

Is anyone having issues accessing the services that are online - e.g. if you sign in to the iOS Dev Center are you getting the maintenance message again?
