Is this a half ass release?
First you release IOS 12.1.1 and the most anticipated release isn't there for the apple watch to enable ECG....so Apple teases us with a half ass job. Explains why their stock has taken a beating and seems it will continue tomorrow!!

LOL

I guess it is too ambiguous for some when Apple says. immediately when announcing a feature, "By the end of the year". Last I checked that is still not here. But apparently the suspense is killing some people! (first world problems)

Now it would be nice if this showed up sooner rather than later, sure.

There is a terrible comparison to conflate Apple’s to financial status to a WatchOS/iOS update. And yes, I understand your frustration, but why use their stock status as leverage for your complaint? Apple said ECG is coming, it’s just not your timeline, and it shouldn’t be.

The stock price has nothing at all to do with the actual quality of Apple Watch or it's software. It's based on speculation of how much more Apple can keep growing in saturated markets, not on the quality of Apple's products.

Apple didn't tell you anything about which version of watchOS or iOS an ECG app would be included in, or even if the ECG app would be part of an update or a stand alone app. All they said was "later this year."

I'm fine with Apple taking their time to get it right, and the only issue I have is with the negative premise of this thread.

[edit] watchOS 5.1.2 Likely Coming Today With ECG App Enabled on Apple Watch Series 4

I'd be more upset about 5.1 bricking watches than 12.1.1 and 5.1.2 ECG releases not being at the same exact time...

in Apple's defense (weird when I do this), I believe they did say ECG coming by end of year. It's not quite the end of the year, yet. I'd rather they do it right and late than early and not right. If it has to be one or the other.

Everyone is too shortsighted. I want to know what’s the next atrocity Apple will foist on us - like delivering products on time. Anyone up for a pool? Lol.

This makes your 7th started post about the ECG on the Apple watch!

I really think that there's a percentage of the folks whining about the "Late" ECG release that aren't nearly as concerned about what their heart is doing, but actually just want to show off to their friends/neighbors/girlfriend/etc the neat new trick that their Apple Watch can do... "Hey, y'all, hold this here beer, come see what I can do with my watch!"

I agree with you. There are some here claiming a medical need for the Watch to function ASAP and for those, they should be happy in a couple more hours. BUT, the majority have no need but would like to have it. I fall in this category and just interested but am not going to drive myself crazy waiting.

I fall into that same category, but, being 70, and vastly overweight, I am curious as to how my heart is taking my exercises that I do. However, if I were as concerned as some of the folks here, I would have bitten long ago for either of the cardiothingys that Amazon has at $99 and $69 long ago, and be done with it, rather than drop the $500 on the Apple Watch SOLELY for the ECG as some would have us believe. It's all good, just hang loose, take a toke or two, and wait. :)

I'm one of those who have atrial fibrillation intermittently and will use this watch as a go no go on whether it is safe to be able to donate platelets on a given day. Cardiologist just gave the green light to go off the blood thinners (Eliquist) two days prior to a donation once a month.

So now that the update has been released, the stock should skyrocket?

No, now the complaints will surface why the EKG ‘isn’t accurate’ or ‘Why we don’t need this functionality.’ That’s the nature of tech forums, but I can already tell you how important this feature will be for all ages and in the least, EKG is a preemptive way to be more mindful of any heart conditions someone should be aware of. Add Glucose monitoring in a few years and my Apple portfolio should be very healthy. (<— Pun intended.)
