Apple's online education store has gone down in many European countries, including the U.K., Ireland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Hungary, Czech Republic, and others.

The store is also down in a few other countries around the world, such as Mexico, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and China.

The downtime likely means that Apple's annual Back to School promotion will be launching in Europe and elsewhere within the next several hours. The promotion first launched in the U.S. and Canada last month, with Apple offering college/university students up to a $150 Apple gift card with the purchase of an eligible Mac or iPad model.

In the U.S., Apple is offering a $150 gift card with the purchase of any new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or iMac model, and a $100 gift card with the purchase of any new iPad Pro or iPad Air model. The list of eligible devices includes the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models with the M2 chip that Apple announced last month.

Apple's gift card offer can be stacked with the usual educational discount on Macs and iPads that the company provides to students. In some countries, customers must verify they are a higher-education student via UNiDAYS to be eligible.

With the Euro being roughly on par with the U.S. dollar right now, it is possible that Apple's offer in countries that use the Euro will be up to a €150 gift card, but the exact offer remains to be seen. Apple launched its all-in-one gift card in several European countries last month, with the gift card valid for purchases at both the Apple Store and across Apple services like the App Store, iTunes, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and others.

Last month, Apple also launched the promotion in India, Thailand, and Singapore, where it is still offering students free second-generation AirPods with the purchase of an eligible Mac or iPad. Apple's all-in-one gift card is unavailable in those countries.

Update: Apple has launched its Back to School promotion in Europe.

Ive got an M2 MacBook Air on order, so does this mean I'm gonna have to cancel my day one order and place a back of the line reorder so I can get the gift card or AirPods or whatever the deal is??

I’m wondering this too! Hopefully they will honour else I’ll cancel and reorder.

Yep That's what I'll do if I need to! I wonder if we contacted them and complained they'd honour the deal? Its a bit annoying and pretty shoddy customer service tbf. Oh well lets wait and see, they might do the right thing and just automatically add the gift cards to our order! 🤞

What spec did you order? Im waiting for a full fat chipset, 24GB memory, 1TB SSD with the 67w fast charging brick. I ordered as soon as the Education store came back online, it was timing out for around 10 mins after the 1pm release time. I had it ordered within a minute of being able to get into the store and still got an August 1st - 8th delivery date :(

It’s back online, £120 gift card available now for the macbook air i’m waiting for, what a shambles

Cancelled the previous order I had, Bought it and the gift card got charged. Bad move from apple.

Paid the same price as before and a extra 120 gift card…. Not cool

Before anyone else cancels, you can call apple and ask them to extend the offer to your existing order. The gift card offer was honoured straight away but it seems like the difference in price for AppleCare+ needs to be escalated to get it amended.

As Ensee said, I just did online chat and they added the £120 gift card to my existing order at no additional cost (which was already 'preparing to ship' so i couldnt have cancelled it anyway). Happy days. Though still a little frustrating Apple couldn't have launched the promotion last week to coincide with the MBA release. Seems to be a case of one department not talking to the other!

Hi All,
Just to add here I just got off the online chat, the person i spoke to couldn’t have been more helpful. She said that the gift card is added to my order and will be emailed to me within 7 days. Delivery date unchanged from original. Well done Apple, they could’ve coordinated between departments a bit better so this problem didn’t happen, but it was sorted very quickly and efficiently so credit where credit is due (no pun intended) 🥳

@amt2002 @Mad4WDW Which chat did you contact? I called them last week on Thursday and they said that they would add the gift card to my order but nothing happened yet.

Hi, I went into my order on the Apple Store app, scolled to the bottom and theres abutton there to call or use online chat is you have questions. I just went on the chat and asked the question.... " My day 1 M2 Air order is still processing, can you add on the gift card offer for me so I dont lose my delivery date or do I have to cancel it and reorder, I dont really want to have the delivery date pushed back if you can help me that would be great :) "

My gift card was emailed yesterday after I spoke to them on July 14th.

Hope that helps

Oh and if anyone wants to use my script in the chat to them feel free. I only want 15% commission if youre a long time subscriber lol 30% if not
