Interesting. But think about current times, most work is done paperless. Hence the Apple Pencil and Keyboard. And personally, I print nothing and am encouraged on my course to work electronically and submit work online.

All I'm trying to say is what would help students the most.

Well I knew one person who only used an iPad for college so that would be pointless. More people have MacBooks

Waiting in Germany for an iPad Pro 10.5in. Store is still up though. I don't want / need Beats. Apple Pencil or Smart Keyboard would be greatly appreciated!

Had a discussion in a course recently, several students had thought about an iPad Pro as their student work machine (esp. concerning text markup, handwriting etc.). But all agreed: way too expensive. And yes: Everyone knew what the surface costs.

If you're gonna do education offers Apple, please do it properly. Give the choice of say a free Apple Pencil or even the keyboard for the iPads. That's more education orientated that some free headphones for sure.
Totally agree, A Pro app bundle is also a great gift for students, but when do they give something that's really useful.. probably back in 2010 when you can get an iPod touch for free, although it was 8GB(lowest end model)......

Do I need to be a student?
You should be.. Or you can find a student or teacher and take them (and their student/teacher ID) with you to buy apple computers at an apple store.

Maybe... but forget marketing... I'm going to guess you aren't an actual student. If they want to appear like they care about education, headphones aren't what help students learn.
Oh Please, most students would love free headphones. Hell I can't study unless I have music in the background and I always wear headphones. Whinny brats that have to complain about everything.

It would have to be something good to make the new rMBP worth the money, unfortunately.
The new rMBP is worth the money already. I've had mine since November and it's probably the best laptop I've ever owned. Great power and battery and screen and the Touch Bar and Touch ID are great additions as well. Just my opinion though.

No doubt. But the issue is that what you're getting is a laptop with only 5 ports (or 3 on the rMBP without the Touch Bar...), vs the old laptop with 7 ports (or 8 if you count the SD card slot). Not only that, but there's a bit of a chicken and egg problem here. Nobody is going to buy USB-C devices, until they have something to plug those devices into. On the other hand, nobody is going to buy a USB-C-only laptop if they have nothing to plug into it, because it necessitates the purchase of a couple hundred dollars in adapters and hubs. Plus, for the same money, you can buy a much (much) better laptop, running Linux (okay, maybe this isn't for everyone, but it works for some of us). Maybe it doesn't have the Touch Bar and Touch ID, but let's face it; those aren't necessities. I wish I could justify the purchase as you seem to have, but it just seems like a completely unreasonable thing to purchase at the moment. Perhaps I'll purchase a bridge laptop in the future with a couple USB-C ports, which will allow me to transition.

!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!

I just bought my iMac 3 weeks ago but I contacted them and chatted with an agent for about an hour but they gave me the promotion! They're shipping my beatsX (which i chose cause I run and hate the can style solo)

God damnit... I just bought my new MacBook last week.

Contact them and tell them about it if you are a student they'll definitely give it to you within a week
