That's crazy. I live in a metro area with 5 million people and we have no Apple Store at all.

I wonder why the need to open so many Apple Stores when people are buying more and more online. I guessed that Apple would start cutting down costs on superfluous stores worldwide, but I guessed wrong.

Eight stores in a city seems a lot, but some people have no idea how massive Shanghai is. It has over three times the population of New York City. Over 26 million people. More than in Australia. And that is just the population of that actual city without its neighbours. If you take a twenty minute train ride from Shanghai, you will arrive in Suzhou, another city with over ten million people. Another 17 minutes further there is another city called "Wuxi" with six million people. I can recommend putting Shanghai on your bucket list, even if you think that China is evil. The city is so far ahead of Europe or the US.
Don't forget to mention this trains go close to 300km/h most of the time and that the cities blend in another. I was in Wuxi and Shanghai for work. Very nice cities for real.

I think that banning iPhones from anything to do with government in China has a bigger economic impact. Or at least one that is noticeable to Apple. Huawei at least seems to have recovered just fine from the temporary hit.
Agree. But the post I responded to had nothing to do with economic impact.

The Maglev, making the link with the Pudong Airport. Before was 431, but reduced to 300 km/h. But their high speed train network also improves years after years.

West and East Nanjing Road are quite crowded, it's more about visibility than real store sales. Plus, a lot of malls here are populated with luxury brands, so it's more about PR. Nevertheless, most AppleStore are crowded most of the times. The one next to Lujiazui in Pudong New District (the part with all the modern skyscraper, more like the economical heart) ain't bad, as a surface glass cylinder, but has been under renovation for a few month now.
