Both of you guys are incorrect. The company that developed pressure sensitive touch technology for PixelSense (Perceptive Pixel) and Kinect were both bought by Microsoft. PixelSense has seen very little change since the acquisition in 2007, other than spec bumps. As for Kinect, that underlying technology is the same since 2008. What they've done is improve the accuracy slightly.

This is like calling Google innovative because they bought a "smart" thermostat company.

Which is what people do call Google and Android.

It doesn't matter how MS/Apple/Google get the employees or release the tech, they will still get the credit when release to the masses.

Say what you want, MS added Kinnect to there gaming systems while everyone else didn't. Seems like innovation to me.

Have you ever used a Kinect? It's the biggest disappointment of any tech I think I've ever experienced. Also, Playstation had the PS eye before Kinect, which is why Microsoft bought it.

Yes. Use Kinect everyday and it is awesome as a controller. Never heard of the the PS eye, I would assume it didn't do to well since it is not as well known a the kinect.

And after reading some reviews: seems the the playStation eye isn't even in the same clases with Kinect.

It was first launched in 2003, then updated and relaunched in 2007. At the time, a lot of people, especially those on IGN, thought it could be a potential game changer. So playing catchup, Microsoft bought the Kinect technology from PrimeSense a few months after.

This wasn't something done because they were being "innovative", they were simply hedging against what Sony could potentially throw at time. PrimeSense had better tech than Sony.

I love how they need to research this when Wacom is already on multiple tablets for Android and Windows.

Is Apple too proud to license?

That, or biased against pen input...maybe both. get with it apple

Very cool concept, i wonder how touch screens will change in the next 10-20 years.

about as much as lcd's have changed in the last 15. Even if apple realizes thier haptic fantasies--its still a gimmick, Best cas scenario is they revolutionize the way you type on a tablet--but who types extensively on a tablet.

Apple, I want a 5.5" - 6" iPhone with Wacom digitiser (and an app suite to make use of it), 128GB storage, system-wide Swype integration, with becomingly long battery life… Much like the Galaxy Note III, but better, and iOS. Properly waterproof, as well.

Hasn't been able to? You meant hasn't been able to implement something that's too limited? And for your information, main features of Android (touch screen phone) had come from iPhone. Without iPhone showing Google the way... Well, we all know the history, don't we?

Yes, but I can type 2-3 times faster on my Android phone because of the swipe feature, and I can download a launcher and customize the UI to look any way I want... I can also rearrange icons, and multitask like no iPhone can. iPhone is just behind...

Customize? What a laugh. Who the hell want to customize the phone? You have too many free time on your hands? I suggest using it to make more money, how about that?
