Apple today announced that its extended return policy is now in effect for the holiday shopping season. The policy applies to most products that Apple sells, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods, HomePod mini, and more.

In the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and select other countries, most items purchased between November 4, 2022 and December 25, 2022 may be returned through January 8, 2023:
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 4, 2022 and December 25, 2022, may be returned through January 8, 2023. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. Items purchased by carrier financing are not eligible for extended returns and are subject to the Standard Return Policy. All purchases made after December 25, 2022 are subject to the Standard Return Policy.
In a few other countries like Italy, Spain, and Japan, there is a longer extended return policy in effect, with most items purchased between November 4, 2022 and January 6, 2023 eligible for return through January 20, 2023.

More details are available on Apple's returns and refunds page.

Yes, but do you buy AppleCare+ for a month or two just in case something happens?

I only ask ‘cause I do. My luck something would happen to a product I didn’t want, I’d get stuck with it and have to pay for a repair.

👊😝👍
This extended return policy definitely makes it appealing. I wouldn't recommend buying an AppleCare + for only a month or so. In addition, you can sign up for a monthly plan that way you are not stuck with it.

That’s not a bad idea….

Knock on wood but I have never bought AppleCare for any of my Apple products, even when I plan on trying it out and possibly returning it. I do put my iPhone in a case though.

That also means that there is no new products before January 21, 2023 (or more likely March to have a bit of distance).

Because if there would be a new MacBook, all the people from Christmas would come and return it to buy a new one!
I don't think we will see a new Apple product until Spring. Most likely in March/April time frame. Apple is pretty much done at this point. I do suspect we might see Apple AR/VR headsets by 1st quarter of 2023.

on everything over $1k I say yes.

We have over 20 devices here.
At that scale, we don't buy Apple Care. It's much cheaper to pay for repairs as needed.

Let the extended test drives of Apple Watch ultra commence
I’m surprised… not only was I not the only person who thought of doing this, but I wasn’t even the only person who came to this thread to joke about it!

Apple provides partial refunds of unused AppleCare+ so don’t feel you’ll get stuck with it.

But do you think if you’re within the return period time, something happens and you use the AppleCare+ to fix it, you’d be able to still return the device? 🤔

That is a very good question. I'm 99% sure you should be able to return the device. I baby my Apple products so much that I don't even pay attention to AppleCare.

For a few weeks now, Amazon has modified their Return Policy to January 31, 2023 on practically everything Amazon sells. You might as well buy from Amazon and get a few extra weeks for any Apple item. You're not going to get a discount at Apple while you just may at Amazon.
