Apple today confirmed that there will be a daily usage limit for Siri AI, with expanded access available for a fee in the future.

In the fine print of Apple's announcement of the Health Sensing features coming to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, Apple says it will have usage limits on Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground, and Apple Foundation Cloud models in the Shortcuts app.

Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, including but not limited to Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground, and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. Daily limits may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors. Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.

Apple did not offer details on what the fee will be or how it will be charged, but at WWDC, Apple said that higher iCloud+ tiers will include expanded access to the limited Apple Intelligence features.

Nobody is forcing the LLM companies to do that, nor the investors to pump money into them.

What’s being described here are businesses that are not viable and should die.


I welcome that collapse.

And yes, your point about Apple is correct.

Hopefully, they are smart enough to not try to forcibly commingle paying for AI and paying for other iCloud features

I'm already in one of their paid tiers for other reasons -- but if that were not the case, I certainly wouldn't be interested in spending money on an AI that can't even accurately determine when it's needed.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you have an iPhone or Mac or Apple Watch or anything like that, you've already paid something for something with Siri branding.
