another half baked idea from apple. the only thing its good for is to check how much porn your significant other or kid is watching.

I mean, if you give your S.O. access to your device, sure.

i mean who wouldn't want apple to know EXACTLY what website you visit and for how long right?

"No specific app or web usage data is gathered by Apple."

LOL right.... The only reason they track which website and how long is for your benefit. Kinda like charging 1500 was definitely for your benefit.

You win. They're definitely after you.

(Pro tip: if you trust your platform vendor that little, switch your platform.)

I never said they were after anyone. Everything they do is for their benefit though, not yours. Especially some half baked idea that doesn't even work correctly. And if you believe some users, drains their battery....

I downloaded a wee game last week on my Xs and played it for quite a few hours over the course of a few days. Even had it open while watching TV. Then I deleted it on Thursday/Friday. On Sunday when I got the screen time weekly data it didn’t show up at all. So it seems that if you delete an app all it’s screen time data gets deleted with it.

If I was a child who’s parents wanted to make sure they weren’t spending too long on a certain app or apps, I’d just delete them before the weekly report

Buggy as hell.

I have 2 devices with screen time turned on. It reports 3.

My phone which is called “Paul iPhone” does not update at all but something called “iPhone” does update. I don’t have a device called “iPhone”.

I have a 3rd device not signed into screen time but its apps show on the other devices. How on earth is that possible!!

Logging out and back in, rebooting etc etc does not fix the mess. Apple calling me on Wednesday to troubleshoot.

Yup it’s a buggy barrel of poop at the moment.

If I was a parent who relied on third parties to manage my child’s time on a device I’d try this:

Settings / Screen Time / Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Then in Content & Privacy Restrictions:
iTunes & App Store Purchases / Deleting Apps : Don’t Allow

Fortunately I’m not one of those parents.

Downtime needs to be more flexible. I would like to use the YouTube app during a certain time on the weekdays, and then all day on Saturday and into Sunday morning. Being forced into the same time scheme every single day is not my idea of good development.

Cool. My inner child will just have to come up with another plan to outwit my inner parent(s)

Is it just me or is screen time really buggy? Sometimes it says I’ve been on instagram 30 mins and I know I’ve been on it for like an hour (yes I’m an addict), it only shows 3-4 days then everything is reset (I have yet to get a full weeks data) and it says I have 33 unlocks today and that’s total nonsense I’ve maybe opened my phone 5 times today it’s been in my pocket all day. Is my broken or is it just another great “feature”, from modern day Apple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes, the times are completely nonsense. I use it (try to use it) to limit my son's amount of Fortnite time. And it's completely off, like saying he played for 10 minutes, when he played for an hour. And then he can just extend his time limit without any pin code!

At minimum, it shouldn't be hard to get the timing correct.

This thing is full of bugs. Wtf beta testers did??? They didn't test nothing..

Emoji’s and Memoji’s. :p
They didn't test nothing..
In order for that to be true, you would need data’s showing what all beta testers tested.
It could be it this bug was found, reported and Apple didn’t fix it for whatever reason.
If you read the comments when Apple releases a point update, there is usually a couple of comments like:
“Did they fix so and so bug (or feature) which I reported previously”.

Screen Time was the first thing I turned off on my iPhone 5S to save battery to also because the device is my servant and not the other way around.

Reality is I use iPhone more as iOS proves more capable and thus use laptop less.

Overall, I use any device when needed or desired, and I don’t require a naggy nanny-app.

Working great a couple of bugs. Like it don't always show the remote devices use.
Really useful for families and those with teens.
long over due feature for parents.
Use to have rules on firewall for different subnets , but this is so much easier.

Clearly very buggy...but what in the world does your son using his hotspot on a laptop have to do with screen time????

Because he is trying to get around the fact that his phone is shut off. I dont want him to be able to turn on / usehis hotspot as well.

But that's not the point of screen time. I agree that should be a parental control (and for all I know that ability already is) though.
