They need to let ad agencies do what they do best. Apple is too close to the situation to do a good job. It makes sense to pay someone else to handle the ads. They are trying to do too much themselves. They need to let ago of the ads and stop trying to control everything. Too much control can be a bad thing.

Most of the recent ads would make me avoid apple if I wasn't already a customer.

Maybe they shouldn't be advertising so much. It's not like people don't know who apple is and what they do. Don't give people a chance to be annoyed by the ad by overspending to get it played everywhere annoying people moreso than anything. I'm not sure here. Maybe people are just over Apple.

You probably can't site the original artist without re-searching the internet, let alone give an accurate description of what the song is actually about. The "black penis" is your perverse interpretation, don't blame it on the internet. It's a bad commercial because it's a bad cover...

Go look up the lyrics. If you still don't think that's what it's about, it's not my fault that you can't see the obvious.

Since I don't respond much to marketing, except to find it annoying, putting me off the products advertised at me, and since I hate marketing in general (not the necessity of the basic concept; the execution of it by corporate giants)... and I find most of Apple's marketing videos to be like public self-indulgence / wanking...

I couldn't care less about how their internal marketing people score compared to ... whatever. I don't own stock, and I hate the stock market, so I don't get all loony over this speculation game crap, whenever some article comes up talking gossip about how the company is doing in ways that are irrelevant to product. Most of the people that care are investors. Those who have enough invested that a point or three makes a big difference to their portfolios aren't in my social class, and likely not in the social class of most readers of this site.

Gossip about marketing is uninteresting to me. But I see it's 70+ comments interesting enough, and there are "i don't care" comments like my own which are self-defeating... :-D

I guess I am REALLY square but I like the chicken fat commercial. Granted, I have no idea what "chicken fat" really means, but I like the music and the get-off-your-arse scenes. To further show my ignorance, what it that metal circle that someone puts on top of the iPhone?

bit off topic, but its kind of funny thinking that most of the points that the 'Mac vs PC' adverts made are still relevant. I think Apple should re-release them!

Don't be too hard on yourself, Apple, I'm just happy when I see a commercial from you that doesn't feature the condescending Genius guy.

(it's fun to give immensely successful companies consolation messages from the comfort of my chair)

all their new ads ive seen feel uninspired and condescending which matches their team of executives quite well i think.

but given the latest news about siri and apples maps success and their in house ad team one can not help but think siri will be even more useless

Some people have it, and some don't

Apple has better skill in certain areas, but trying to do it in-house (probably to save money), Apple jumps in the deep end without being able to swim.

Netflix on the other hand :)

So do these. Apple has to bombard us with stuff after stuff.

The Mac vs PC ads were comedy like.... but the problem with Apple is if they like anything regardless of what the public things, they'll do it anyway, and make as much noise as possible,

You give them a dummy and they spit it out.

*umm. kinda like me actually*

Hiring 1,000 people in-house to save money is funny ... :)

Indeed.

Companies bringing advertising in-house is one of those classic bad management signals. It's either arrogance or an extreme lack of understanding about how creativity works.

Yet another thing that makes me worry about Tim ....
