For many years pre-orders were at 12:00 AM PT / 3:00 AM ET on the pre-order date, however, for the past several upgrade cycles Apple has moved the pre-order time to 5:00 AM PT / 8:00 AM ET.
If you already are on the iPhone Upgrade Program and would like to turn in your current phone to upgrade to your new phone Apple will have a pre-qualification period for a day or two prior to the order date that will allow you to choose your phone configuration, complete all the loan paperwork and pre-qualify for your new Citizen's Loan with a credit check before the pre-orders go live. Then on pre-order day you simply wake up at 8:00 AM and find one final checkout button click it and you're done.

That will likely be another underwhelming, but overpriced iPhone. The maxed out model will likely costs around €2.499 in Germany, because there will be a price bump of about 200 Euros anyway and another 200 more for the new 2 TB option. So basically an iPhone for the price of a MacBook Pro. Crazy times.

They say it's got this fancy new USB-C charging feature, like it's the latest craze in phone dancing or something. But I've got MagSafe wireless charging at home, in my car, even in my top-secret underground lair.
Why does USB-C matter, you ask? Well, it's like asking why the chicken crossed the road. Maybe it's a philosophical statement about universal connectivity, or maybe they just needed a new letter of the alphabet to keep things fresh.

USB-C matters because every other phone uses it. So many households will have different products types, not just Apple. Many businesses in the same situation. Many cars here now have USB-C ports. There’s still far more USB-C phones being sold than iPhones. So it’s more of a convenience piece to have USB-C / one type of connection. You might have MagSafe everywhere, but it’s not for everyone at all times. Sometimes you need / want a fast charging solution or need to transfer data via cable.
September 12 seams like the date according to the following calculation:
iOS beta 5 was released on August 8 with a build number ending with 'd'.
We are now going with weekly releases so we will have:
beta 6 on August 15 with a build number ending with 'c'
beta 7 on August 22 with a build number ending with 'b'
beta 8 on August 29 with a build number ending with 'a'
RC on September 5, followed by official public build on September 12 - the day of the event.
Or I could be wrong ...

Thanks I'm coming from an iPhoneX HAHA so not on any upgrade plan and haven't bought a phone in a while. When I get this one. I'll probably keep it until Apple does something like FaceID/Camera under the screen or some gotta have feature. I hope they stick to the 8:00 ET time which is 7 my time. I can deal with that a little better than 2AM

One piece of advice I would give you is to install the Apple Store app on your phone and upgrade that way, it will detect all of your information already and from my experience I've heard of people having website issues the day orders go live, but I have never had an issue getting my order in using the app from the phone I am upgrading from.

Quick question about upgrading. Let's say I want to transfer all my imessage or text but I don't currently backup imessages to the cloud. Isn't there a way to copy the phones now as long as they're next to each other? Will it also do my esim at that set up point?
