Not sure what you mean. Apple Music works just fine from the Mac. Plays through iTunes. It’s realy great. See what’s playing. Either stream from Mac to HomePod or hand off to run on HomePod. Adjust volume skip tracks etc from Mac iPhone or Apple Watch. Or Siri or touch pad on homepod

Yes, it does work fine, but from the Remote App you cannot select new Apple Music tracks, new stations or navigate through the Apple Music platform on the Mac. You're limited to playing music residing on your Mac, advancing to the next song, toggling on / off and adjusting volumes of various Airplay speakers. For those of us who have invested in the Airplay platform ( I have 5 interior zones and 2 exterior zones, all accessible via Airplay. ), its a bit of a negative not to give us control, prior to the release of Apple Music, the Remote App was able to perform these tasks in iTunes Radio. Its a fairly big omitted detail, especially from a company that always says its about the music. They're making room for Airplay 2 and new equipment, but in reality the technology has been there the entire time.

I wonder if it’s late as Apple were planning to use Marzipan to bring the Music app from the iPad over?

Then realised that they couldn’t (for the moment) and were stuck with iTunes being their primary music solution still, on the Mac.

It was a happy day for me when I realized I didn't really need this app anymore and could just use the control center widget. (But that won't be the case for everyone.)
How do I use the control center widget? Mine simply controls my phone or my Apple Tv.

Amazed that the Remote app still doesn't support Love/Dislike tracks. 3 years after this was implemented in iTunes. Clearly Apple's iOS and iTunes teams rarely talk with each other.

Wow, it took Apple this long to add support for the iPhone X. So, a company approaching a trillion dollar market cap couldn’t add support for the iPhone X many months ago? Did they lack the financial resources for that? If Tim Cook wasn’t so clueless and actually spent time caring about products instead of political issues, Apple could have added iPhone X support to the iTunes Remote app even before the iPhone X was released.
It wasn’t a priority. Even large companies prioritize.
Unrelated: the remote app also supports older Apple TV models that don’t support the control Center remote.

Of course it wasn’t a priority. Just like the Mac Pro wasn’t a priority.

The main thing I needed the remote app for was my Apple TV. As I said, won't be true of everyone. :)
