Never satisfied with the trade in offers provided by Apple. Other than convenience there is no real benefit. Better to sell the old device somewhere else for much better amount.

Come on, MacRumors - cut Apple some slack. Everyone knows they're hurting for cash! Tim Cook's been seen digging through the headquarter's couches looking for loose change, for Pete's sake!

Not sure if you’re joking, but it’s not like they take your trade in and without any testing or parts replacement, turn around and sell it.
Any refurb I’ve ever bought has looked absolutely brand new, and even has the same warranty. It’s the reason I’d buy a refurb from Apple when I wouldn’t touch one from almost any other company.

So of course we can get more from a private party, because we don’t do any of that :p

That said, this promotion is whack. I wonder if it’s an error.

What, you think buying a new Dell won't depreciate once you use it?

Or how about that inexpensive no-name air fryer you just got off Amazon - do you think you're going to get anything more a couple of bucks for it at your next garage sale? Heck, even if you got a name-brand air fryer it's going to depreciate dramatically.
Comparing an “air fryer” to an Apple product is pure comedy. You believe the value of both items share the same level of depreciation? You must be enthusiastic to throw your money away for Apple products

Up to means nothing to them at this point - always document your device's ability to turn on and, if applicable, have a fully working screen. They tried to say my screen had burn-in on my original iPad Pro trade in (for M4 pro) and reversed course when I provided them my video of it working in the return packaging.

About how long ago was this? When I traded in an iPhone in 2021, it was an outright scam. They continued to claim it wouldn't activate when I knew for a fact it would. I didn't think to document the entire process. The only reason management eventually manually gave me the trade-in value was when I finally refused the entire thing and they couldn't locate the phone to send back to me. Presumably because they had already stolen it.

They said they were going to stop using the third party company for trade-ins, but I will never trust them again.

There is a major miss in this article. This promotion only applies to intel based Mac’s.
