All of you are failing to see my distinction between the actual flying of the full flag (which is fine) and the crass commercialisation of a national symbol. It's not national pride if it's jingoism. If anything I say this out of respect and compassion for your national symbol rather than anything politically critical.
Those who wear it, use cups with it, have it on their bags etc. aren't being jingoistic. They're using it as a fashion statement. It's part of the way 1960s style has returned into fashion. The Union Flag was part of that.

Nope all for free. I tried to get a full set out of the assistant but they said they were doing it over 4 days and then would start again. :)

Got two from the Reading store today!

The employees seemed to just be holding them, so I went up and asked and they just gave me and my friend one.

I asked at my local AppleStore today and was told they are just something for staff to wear and they didn't have any for customers. :(

Imperialistic? How? And the Irish tricolour is plastered all over the place in Ireland in any case.

Empire = imperial. Duh.

No. It's a crass, jingoistic fetishisation of an imperialist nation state. It's always the likes of Britain or the States that do it by far the most.

Flying the UK Flag is not imperialistic - it's simple patriotism.
No one here can argue with that.
As for jingoism - every country does it - because they are proud and rightly so. Try preaching anti-patriotic rubbish like that at the olympic park over the next couple of weeks.

I picked up a white ipad on Friday, and a black iphone yesterday, and have been told to just turn up today to get another.

According to some embittered nations, we the British (and worst of all the English amongst us) aren't allowed to feel any pride in our nation, ever. This is because we must personally carry some sort of burden of shame for some historical events which were admittedly not our finest hour.

The truth is that most British people who are patriotic, feel that way because of recent historical events that have occurred after the second world war. The formation of the welfare state, the National Health Service, innovations and inventions in technology and industry, British music and arts, the multi cultural aspect of British society which has in the main been successful and so on. We're by no means perfect but we're not a bad bunch either.

There is nothing more that needs to be added to that. Spot on!

When you've grown past your "Angry Young Man" phase let us know eh?

Who is best placed to tell you the feelings behind British people using the image of our flag, a Brit or an outsider?

i got one of these yesterday at the Apple store in Reading. They were just spread around the shop.

I so want one!!

This is what happens when you leave london before the Olympics!!

I'll be going to the local apple store at some point. If you really want one I can try to get one and mail it to you. For free, of course.

Has anyone had any luck with getting the badges from the Birmingham Bullring Store?
Haven't had time to get down there but really want the badges!

wow, that'll be awesome, loads of respect for you!
inbox you my address.

Thanks a lot

Sure, no problem. Do you have any preference on which pin you'd like? I think it's a different one each day but if that's the case I can call ahead to check which one's available. I'm in no rush to go to the store so let me know.

Any pin would do, am really lucky to even get one, cheers:D

Trading pins is really fun. I traded US pins at several Curtis Cup matches I attended and got all kinds of neat Irish, Scottish and British pins.

Does anyone have a spare black iPhone pin? It's the only one I'm missing from the set, and I don't think I'd be able to make it to an apple store before the end of the Olympics! I tried to get one today in London, but they had none left (I think today is the last day of the black iPhone ones).
If someone does have a spare (or 2) I could swap a couple of my iPad ones...!

Thanks :)
