Amazon today has introduced a new record low price on the 512GB 13-inch M5 MacBook Air, available for $899.99, down from $1,099.00. This deal is available in all colors and as of writing only Amazon has the discount.

This new price is about $50 cheaper when compared to past sales. Amazon also has $149 off the 1TB models of the 13-inch M5 MacBook Air, which match all-time low prices on these devices. Delivery dates vary depending on the color selected, but most will arrive before the end of the month.

Agreed, but still hard to beat the $499/599 educational price of a Neo.
Here’s hoping 2027 will bring the 12 GB Neo, and that it will qualify for the Back-To-School education promotion. My kid is due for an upgrade from a 8/256 GB 2015 13” MacBook Pro. A 12/512 GB Neo with free AirPods during the BTS sale would be nice.

That’s $100.99 cheaper than the Apple Education Store, which is a shame because it’s better to buy directly from Apple than to buy from Amazon. Jeff Bozos is worse than Tim Crook.

Whenever I see these Amazon deals, I always check Costco too. And once again they are running the exact same price $899 until May 30. I guess MacRumors always promotes the Amazon sale because they get the affiliate kickback.

Get the M4 and stick to Sequoia. You save money and have a solid OS instead of a construction zone.

But by that time you'll find the M5 Macbook Air for a lower price as the base model usually ends up around 750 bucks. Compared to the 512GB Neo at $599 with education pricing the difference isn't all that big anymore - if you can wait until 2027. But the Neo might still be sturdier with thicker bezels and that might be more important in a school setting than the chip inside. Especially if that device is at risk of being damaged or lost buying 2 Neos is cheaper than 2 Macbook Airs.

i'm always shocked at how low macbook airs can go.
Apple has one of the highest profit margins. Both Apple and the seller are still making a profit and by next year it should reach the usual $749 again. Amazon and others make their profit through the sheer quantity of product they move so whatever they lose on each unit they make back double.
