That was fast
Yeah--but this happens fairly regularly. Apple doesn't align its product introductions with normal sales cycles of major resellers, some of who (like Best Buy and Amazon) have semi-predictable sales windows. To me, this seems like a good deal for a solid pro model that should be able to do quite a lot for several years. The only reason to wait would be the introduction of a wholly new model in less than year.

Microcenter had them for $1799 in-store a few days ago. I had Best Buy price match. M5 Pro 15/16 24gb/1tb 14" Space Black
I see Microcenter is at $1,979.99 right now. Amazon would be $1,946.55 with my 5% back.

Concerned about future pricing with the RAM shortage because of AI. I wonder if Apple will have enough RAM to cover these M5 models until the next gen. is released.

I'm thinking Black Friday would make more sense for me considering I will know where I am going with my next cell phone (Android?) & both my Windows laptops will be obsolete in October. Thoughts?

Very good prices especially considering they are brand new devices. Unfortunately they are sold at full prices in my country.

The problem with buying from Amazon is.... they are only given a select few low-end configurations... if you want more memory or ssd, you almost always have to buy from Apple....

M6 might be interesting if it catches up regarding tokens/sec with a 5090 - but sadly even then the biggest hurdle stays. It cannot execute CUDA and everything in the AI world is optimized it , at the moment.
