Oh, excellent. You can't rebut my statement so you go for the ad hominem instead; “you’re making pertinent points that undermine my snide remarks! You must be a blind fanboiiiii!!!”

Or maybe you really do see the world in such a completely black and white way. I mean, that would make sense. You argue that a phone that has changed in almost every respect is “the same old design” on the basis that it’s still rectangular, flat on the back and has rounded corners.

By such measures there’s no difference between me and Bradley Wiggins (British cyclist who just won a gold medal at the Olympics). I mean, we both have four limbs and our organs are essentially in the same place, ergo, we are the same! You must see how ludicrous your argument is.
Oh my... such an emotional response.

I share one simple observation, and this is the response?

Take a look around and perhaps you'll see that here on MacRumors, there are those of us who enjoy a good _discussion_

There are those of us who are Apple apologists

There are those that simply enjoy creating chaos, arguing, fighting etc.

Me? I like a discussion, which in most peoples understanding is an exchange of information, experiences, observations and the like.

Well, we see what my one line observation caused... an emotionally charged response, laced with personal attacks on me, assumptions, all because my response must have hit a nerve.

It occurs to me, that to expect to be able to share an interesting conversation with you, may be quite impossible.

All the best :)

Personanly i have used Android phone, and no.... i won't be using one again! Whatever it does that an iOS device doesn't do, it's not worth the hassle IMO.

I'm not sure what hassle you are referring to.

I can surely think about a lot of hassle regarding syncing my iPhone before iCloud - installing the uber-slow iTunes, building the Music library, painful options for selecting the music I want to sync... After moving to Android, I actually felt a bit of relief, less hassle.

Would you like to point out the "personal attacks"? I don't see any in my post. You, however, have attacked me in a rather passive aggressive way.

As for "emotion", well, I really don't know what post you're reading. Maybe you could help me out and show me where you see this overabundance of emotion?

Imagine it's a micro USB port. I know it won't be, but just imagine.

Well, that's the European Standard. Apple's really good at adopting other people's standards, especially government imposed standards, aren't they?

That was my first thought - it's a USB port, as seen on the odd rumoured iPhone fake in the past… so why is anyone taking it seriously? This case never looked like an iPhone case, and I can't believe people are even paying it lip-service.

Why is anyone taking all of this seriously, other than exercising their own expectations? Last year the rumour mill was absolutely certain the iPad-back phone was it… and Apple had to leak that there was no external change, just to lower expectations.

No need to do that this year. This is the most disappointing external design change, truly worthy of a .5 upgrade. And expectations are set so low, that anything Apple does will be like water to the proverbial man in the desert. Like WWDC - people cheering because at least a few of the wanted/rumoured features actually came though.

A longer screen just won't do it. Prisoners of the ecosystem will begrudgingly replace their 2 year old phones, but they'll always be eyeing the S III as the new leader in design.

Hopefully Apple knows that, and this ludicrous design, with what is clearly a USB connector, is just there to keep expectations low, this year. Nothing less than a 5" 16:9 retina screen will keep Apple in the race, now. And frankly, Samsung has already lapped them. By the time The New iPhone arrives, the S IV will be rolling out, and Apple will be left in the dust.

A failure to innovate, and it's Windows all over again.

I seriously can't think of any app being used without crashing! Now I don't know if that was the phone or OS or both. Btw, it was Samsung galaxy 2. Nice screen and all but it wasn't what I hoped it would be.

You must have been very unlucky. I've never had any serious crashes on my Android phone, maybe one or two apps crash but I have similar problems on my iPhone. My sister's iPhone 3G kept crashing constantly on the latest OS. I guess it's circumstantial in both cases.

Erm, most keys are non ferro.
And, even if they where do you think those magnets are so strong that they attract those keys, no, they would be tiny and not strong enough to attract bigger objects.
But, I see some other problems here, what about if you work with metal and there are lots of tiny metal particles, that could cause problems!

My mailbox key has become stuck to my MBP MagSafe connector before (don't ask).

The 30 pin dock has to be one of Apples biggest engineering failures. They created a new port (which was unnecessary) and gave it lots of extraneous pins. What's wrong with mini USB? At least this revised port will be more ideal, even if it is a new standard that we will all need to go buy new cables for.

Unless BT 4.0 supports a quick connect and disconnect feature, no.

Imagine having to pair with every payment kiosk you encounter

No I wasn't trying to suggest that.

BUT Bluetooth can send out information before it is actually paired (it needs to, to pair, it's how you see it). So it's not to far of a stretch to think that information could do it differently. Or the wireless chip could support some things that we don't know about.

And obviously the device you're buying from would fill up with bluetooth pairings.

I just think it's really interesting that Apple has done nothing to use the BT 4.0 so far. It's in the iOS devices and the laptops for over a year now.

When does Apple adopt a technology it's not going to use?

Yes, sometimes they don't. (I think they did 802.11 early and it never went very far. Literally.)
