Apple's new $9 Polishing Cloth, whose changes beyond pricing were unclear yesterday, is close in size to the original but noticeably less stiff, according to a comparison posted on X.

The user says the new material feels closer to the cloth included with Apple's nano-texture displays or the Vision Pro.

If softer is an improvement, Apple really backed itself into a corner. I mean, what can they possibly improve to release the Polishing Cloth Ultra next year? 😁

Minky fabric -- can't get any softer and luxurious (because a cleaning cloth should be luxurious!) 😀

Great to hear that it is not smaller. Have to imagine all kinds of possibilities when Apple lowers price! Still overpriced but at least it costs 50% less now.

They might make it in red or orange and the problem solved! 😋

If you look for quality cleaning cloths for lenses / glasses / screens, it's actually now a very competitive price. The very popular Koala Japanese microfiber for example costs $10-$12 at Amazon.
