Couldn’t find it on my iPhone’s App store so I followed the direct link to my computer’s iTunes, downloaded it there and then could download it from ‘Purchased’ on my iPhone.

Limited but easy to use and will make on the fly video making fun and easy.

omg this is the kind of garbage Apple is wasting their time on... Leave this stuff to the app developers and focus on improving iOS.. I really hope they had some interns working on this worthless pile of dog poo.

Very fun and simple to use, I really wish they would incorporate all the features from this app into their iMovie app which is already on the phone. Makes more sense that way. I use iMovie on the phone to edit/record videos for my vlog and if these features from clip can make it in there, then it would be almost perfect.

Unfortunately you can't use Apple Music songs in clips...just songs you may have got from other sources and uploaded. Shame about that.

I had to search for another Apple app, then press Related to find it.

Looks okay. Isn't it supposed to ask for permission before using the Camera, Microphone etc?
Or do apps in 10.3 not need permission now?

Not listed in apps that have asked for permission in Settings. Is this an iOS bug?

Serious question, why didn't you use iMovie?

I wonder if the main reason is because people just simply are not aware they can download it for free, along with the iWork suite. I have seen Mac users who had no clue what Pages, Keynote and Numbers were.

iMovie always felt a little clunky to use on my iPhone. I have used iMovie to edit clips on my iPad but the phone interface just felt a little cramped and I personally preferred the "Vee" app, which felt less claustrophobic overall.

You're right. I didn't even notice that it never asked permission, though it did ask for permission for location. Hmmm

As much as I don't like square videos, most people watching these things on their phone never go 90 (i.e. rotate their phone to landscape) and square is still a better ratio in my opinion than Portrait...

Also, to people against just the idea of this app, it's important to understand the market nowadays. A lot of kids don't watch long-form videos, and they eat that kind of stuff up like crazy. Same with emojis and stickers. It is stupid, but if Samsung had a bunch of emojis and stickers Apple did not, a lot of the younger market wouldn't even think of getting Apple products. It's great to cater to the established market (and btw, adding features geared towards younger people, which you can easily avoid, doesn't diminish the experience for other people), but to survive in time, they have to attract the younger generation, and play to what they are interested in (i.e. Short-form, quick colorful and graphics-based communication, etc). If they don't, that market when they grow up might not want to switch... there is so many company I'm still invested in just because as a kid I was exposed and accustomed to their product.

i don't get it, what will this do that no other video app will?
Its amazing what Tim Cook cares about and doesn't care about...

How do I report this rogue app to Apple? Seriously.

Apple have just shown it's possible to get an app through the Store that just does what it likes without permission. What happened to privacy and security?

More that Apple polices itself, so there is no need to subject itself to the same amount of scrutiny compared to 3rd party developers.

Apple is likely using some special code which no one else has access to, so I doubt there's any cause for concern.

Fair points. :) Although those apps are part of iOS and not subject to the Store submission policies.
Strange that Clips is not listed in Setting under apps that have permissions though.

It will be interesting to see if I get a reply.

Got a generic reply:

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Thanks for your patience while we work on getting your issue resolved.

Moving on, I understand you are reporting an App for its lack of permission to use your other personal Apps. I know it is important to get this addressed because you are concerned about your security and privacy. Don’t worry, I provided as much information to assist you with this.
