Set to launch on Monday, December 14, Apple Fitness+ is designed to help Apple Watch owners keep fit through a series of guided workouts across multiple workout categories. While many of the workouts don't require special equipment, for some you need things like dumbbells, a yoga mat, a stationary bike, a rowing machine, or a treadmill.

To that end, Apple's online store has started listing select exercise gear on its online store for the first time. Apple has kicked off its exercise equipment offering with yoga accessories, including a Manduka eKOlite Yoga Mat ($77.95), a Manduka 6 mm Performance Yoga Mat ($119.95), and a Cork Yoga Block ($19.95).

According to the listing's description, the Manduka eKOlite Mat is an eco-friendly and biodegradable surface that's naturally grippy and catches if you start to slip, while the more expensive Manduka 6mm Performance mat is "ultra-dense" and offers a spacious surface with "unmatched comfort and cushioning" that's guaranteed to never wear out.

Meanwhile, the Manduka Cork Yoga Block is made of sustainable cork and provides a level of firmness not found in foam blocks.

It's unclear whether Apple plans to build out its exercise equipment offering in its online store, but Apple Fitness+ includes 10 workout categories including HIIT, strength, and cycling, so there's plenty of scope for more.

Fitness+ will be available for $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year, which breaks down to $6.67 per month. For that price, up to six family members total can use the Fitness+ service. Fitness+ is also included in the Apple One Premier bundle, which is priced at $29.99 per month and also offers ‌Apple Music‌, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and 2TB iCloud storage.

With the purchase of a new Apple Watch Series 3 or later, Apple is offering a free three-month trial of the Fitness+ service. watchOS 7.2 also includes support for Apple Fitness+, Apple's newest streaming service. The update is set to come out on Monday, December 14, which is also the Fitness+ release date.

I was really hoping Apple would release a fitness product (other than the Watch) like a bike with this service.

I will still use Fitness+ but some Apple branded merch would be awesome.

It's probably better if they work together with other brands, to install the service as an app on their devices. Would be nice to have this available in the gym.

Surely they must have the contacts already, since they worked together to integrate GymKit.

Even better if you can then use your Apple device to temporarily login to Fitness+ without having to enter any information.

Or they could do something similar to Carplay. (Gymplay?)

GymPlay sounds like a plan! Tim are you reading this? Please get Peloton to work with Fitness+

I would be 99% certain if this service takes off they will be targeting Peleton and bring out their own equipment. With the popularity of the Apple Watch, now the fitness service, it is the logical direction for the next stage.

OK I’m a fatty and don’t know but why the hell is a yoga mat $80? Shouldn’t something like this be like $20?
There are mats that are $20 and ones that are more. It is about how durable they are and how much cushioning they provide. REI, Target, sporting goods stores and Amazon will all have a selection. When I started doing Yoga a year ago, I got a cheap mat to see if I really wanted to do it. I am about ready to upgrade to a nicer one. Not sure I will go that expensive, but there are some nicer ones around $40-60 that I am considering.

When you see that exact same cork block is selling for £22 on the UK apple store, but only £14 on a yoga website, I think it's because Apple cares for our health, and not at all because of the huge markup!! :)
It is simply that Apple is selling them at list price. REI, a cooperative not known for huge markup, has it for the exact same price. Target also has it at that price. Apple is not a discount store and probably is not the best place to purchase discount gear.

So now they're turning into a Sporting Goods store. Wow, Apple's vision never ceases to amaze me!
