it still isn’t possible to edit a phone number after pasting it, to add a country code before dialing.

Why? There’s already a proper contacts list (that’s got a search field) in the phone app! The phone app defaults to the last tap you were using, but I so rarely directly dial anyone these days (usually only businesses) that it makes more sense to just stay in another tab or switch over to one of the other tabs if you are in the keypad tab.
more options, the better.

My exact reaction! Fiiiinaaaallllyyyyy. This has been bugging me since I first switched from Android three years ago.
Is that the reason the majority of Android users relied on T9 instead of switching to iPhone?

Good. Now give us better phone call quality and less dropping calls
It's the carriers. If Apple is the carrier, the call quality will be excellent.

Not that I’m complaining, but what’s with all the small catchup features this year? I wonder if someone on the dev team made a deal where they’d work on all this weird AI stuff if they also get some time to pick off some easy wins in the backlog.
They just fed their backlog to Xcode's AI assistant and let er rip.

This brings me back. Who else misses being able to send a text from your pocket without ever looking at your phone?

I was thinking similar. What a moment in time thing. I used to be fluent in T9. But having not used it in probably fifteen years at least, I wonder if I could still do it. The memories are probably still there.

T9 texting? Next someone will find out that iPad OS 18 actually supports CD-ROMs too. 🤪

I would love for macOS to have more optical support, like full support for blu-ray. But that will never happen now that every platform owner is a content owner and vice versa.

Is this really a feature anyone was missing from the iPhone? I thought having a touchscreen was supposed to eliminate the need for such a feature. Are we going to add floppy drives to the iPhone next?
Yes, the fact that iPhone hasn't had this is absolutely insane. I used android for 10 years, now iPhone for just over 1 year and this has been one of the big WTFs I've had since switching.

Why would touchscreen eliminate such a feature? This is a basic feature that every single phone should have, it makes using the phone as phone easier.

Uh… okay. I don’t know why anyone would want to voluntarily use T9… but I guess I’m glad it’s there for those who want it. To me, T9 dialing was necessary with the hardware of the time. But I wouldn’t want to use it unless absolutely necessary.

When they were first going to introduce the iPhone I was hoping the were going to have a click wheel like the iPod some we could dial numbers that way like old rotary phone (yes I know we have apps to do that)
