    I come from a land down-under...
Here's an illustration of Apple's new product positioning for the Mini in action:

    1) Maxed out Mac Mini (dual-core i7, 16GB, 256GB flash) is AU$1729 - ouch!

    2) Mid-level 21.5" iMac (quad core 2.7GHz i5, 16GB, 256 flash) is AU2079

    So AU$350 more for:

An arguably better CPU (about 10% slower single core, 40% faster multi-core)
Iris Pro graphics vs Iris 5100
    A reasoanbly good 21.5" screen
    Mouse/Trackpad + keyboard (c. AU$160 bought separately)

There's a pretty good indication than unless you only wanted a headless system, that the iMac is clearly a better deal.

This is EXACTLY what Apple wants us to think too....

I have serious doubts that Apple is expecting its customers to be intelligent creatures at all.

The guys at apple who decide things, are all multi millionaires. They don't have the mind set anymore to care about a thousand dollar more or less for a computer. That's the problem

I disagree. They know full well it is a better deal to buy an iMac, which is likely many "switchers'" first Apple computer.
