4th U.S., 7th worldwide. Still, there's quite a bit of distance between Dell & HP and everybody else.

What would happen if apple hardware ship with pre-installed windows.

would apple take a bigger bite of the laptop market?

think about it without fanaticism😱

Marginally from some of the higher end windows users perhaps. A lot just are not interested in a thin and light machine, especially with Apple's machines as expensive as they are. Apple's biggest problem are the giant holes in their lineup. No mini tower, no mid-tower, no desktop replacement notebooks, and no 15" economy notebook. Apple won't stamp their logo on them and they want let anyone else built them to run OSX.

5% of the market share accounts for all the office cubicles and call center PC's in which Apple doesn't even try to compete.

What I'd really like to know is: how much of the home market does Apple have? (i.e. remove all businesses and servers and such from the statistics).

That's a great question. What is Apple's HOME computer market share? I don't know if anyone has stats on this.

After the Mac Mini DVR comes out (I hope), Apple's home computer market share could really sky rocket. 😎
